A mom says her baby was kidnapped. Her story has 'inconsistencies', police say.

Officials have not ruled out foul play in the disappearance of a 7-month-old baby after his mother said he was kidnapped outside a store in California. According to a release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department (SBCSD), on Aug. 14 before 8 p.m. local time, Rebecca Haro said her infant was kidnapped outside a retail store on Yucaipa Boulevard in Yucaipa, California, which is 10 miles east of San Bernardino. She told police she was standing outside her car changing her son Emmanuel Haro's diaper when a man physically assaulted her and knocked her unconscious. When she regained consciousness, her son was gone. More news: Alabama family of 4 found dead in suspected murder-suicide: Police Police: Missing baby's mom's statements had 'inconsistencies' Police said they interviewed multiple individuals, including both of Emmanuel's parents, Jake and Rebecca Haro. "During those interviews, Rebecca was confronted with inconsistencies in her initial statement and declined to continue with the interview," SBCSD said in a release. Investigators have not ruled out foul play in the infant's disappearance, according to the release. In interviews with local TV stations outside the store in Yucaipa, Rebecca Haro appeared with a black eye which she said she got from the assault. She called on anyone with information to come forward. "I took him out of the car seat and laid him on the chair. I had his diapers right here, and someone said, 'Hola.' I couldn't even turn. I don't remember nothing," Rebecca Haro told several news outlets, including KCAL, on Aug. 16. The family was in the area for another child's football practice, Rebecca Haro said. Emmanuel Haro was last seen wearing a black Nike onesie. He is about 24 inches tall, has brown hair, brown eyes and is cross-eyed, according to police. Investigation for missing child underway As of Aug. 17, investigators are still searching for the infant, SBCSD said in an update. K9 scent-tracking dogs were used in the area, police said. "We appreciate the community's understanding as we work around the clock to locate the victim," SBCSD said Aug. 15. Anyone with information should call Sheriff's Dispatch at 909-387-3717. Foul play ‘not ruled out' as cops hunt for missing Yucaipa baby Emmanuel Haro – mom's kidnap story has ‘inconsistencies'

A BABY from California has been missing since Thursday after his mom claimed he was kidnapped during an attack in a parking lot. In an update, investigators have said her story is riddled with "inconsistencies" and that "foul play cannot be ruled out". 2 2 Seven-month-old Emmanuel Haro from Yucaipa in San Bernadino County was allegedly snatched from his mother's truck as she was changing his diaper before going into a sporting goods store. Rebecca Haro told investigators that she had been hit from behind and knocked unconscious before quickly coming to and realizing her youngest son was missing. A frantic search for the baby was sparked with helicopters and K9 units also in attendance at the scene at a Big 5 parking lot just before 8pm on Thursday. With no sign of Emmanuel, the San Bernadino County Sheriff's Office issued a bleak update on Saturday stating: "The search for baby Emmanuel Haro continues; investigators cannot rule out foul play."

Foul play a possibility in case of missing Yucaipa infant as authorities' search continues

Foul play cannot be ruled out in the disappearance of an infant from Yucaipa who was last seen in the parking lot of a sporting goods store there, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said Saturday. The child, 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro, disappeared on Thursday after his mother, Rebecca Haro, said she was assaulted by an unknown man while changing her son's diaper, the department said. Haro said she was rendered unconscious. When she awoke, her son was gone, she told investigators. Deputies were not able to locate the baby in a search of the area. The department said that when investigators confronted Haro about inconsistencies in her initial statement, she "declined to continue with the interview." "At this point in the investigation, investigators are unable to rule out foul play in the disappearance of Emmanuel," said the department, which also interviewed the boy's father, Jake Haro. In an interview with KTLA on Friday, Rebecca Haro, who had a black eye, pleaded for the return of her son. She said that she had planned to go to the Big 5 Sporting Goods store Thursday evening to buy a mouth guard for her older son. 'If you know anything, please come forward or take him to the cops,' she said. 'Please come and bring my son back. I'm begging you.' The child was last seen wearing a black Nike onesie; he has brown hair, brown eyes and is cross-eyed, KTLA reported. 'Whoever took my son, please return him,' Jake Haro told KTLA. 'We just want him back. We won't do anything to you. Just give us our son. Keep him safe, don't hurt him, make sure you feed him and change him.' Mother of missing Yucaipa baby has "inconsistencies" with her story, authorities say

The San Bernardino Sheriff's Department announced Saturday that it's unable to rule out foul play in the disappearance of a seven-month-old in Yucaipa. According to authorities, the mother and father of Emmanuel Haro, Rebecca and Jake, have been interviewed by investigators about the situation. During interviews Rebecca has been confronted with "inconsistencies" with her initial statements about the alleged kidnapping. Rebecca chose to end interviews at that time, authorities said. In a statement, the department didn't name Rebecca or Jake as suspects in the case, although uncertainties about the baby's disappearance remain. Around 7:47 p.m. Thursday, Rebecca Haro reported that she was changing her son's diaper outside of her vehicle parked at a retail store when she was assaulted by an unknown man and knocked unconcious. Emmanuel, the youngest of Rebecca's six children, was gone when she woke up, she claimed. As of Saturday, Emmanuel remains missing. Investigators said he was last seen wearing a black Nike onesie. He weighs about 21 pounds, is 24 inches tall, has brown hair, brown eyes, and is cross-eyed. Matthew Rodriguez contributed to this report.
