Three Terengganu officers remanded over RM25k bribery for building approvals
KUALA TERENGGANU: Three local authority officers in Terengganu have been remanded for six days over allegations of accepting bribes totalling RM25,000 to facilitate building plan approvals. The remand order, issued by Magistrate Yuhanis Mohd Roslan, follows an application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). The suspects, two men and one woman aged between 40 and 50, were detained yesterday afternoon after giving statements at the Terengganu MACC office. A source revealed that the alleged offences occurred between 2015 and 2019, with bribes transferred into their personal bank accounts. 'Initial investigations found that the three suspects allegedly committed the offences between 2015 and 2019. They are believed to have received bribes amounting to about RM25,000 through separate fund transfers into their respective personal bank accounts,' the source said. The bribes were linked to 14 projects. The arrests follow a separate case in January involving a government agency director detained over a RM900,000 bribery scandal. Terengganu MACC director Hazrul Shazreen Abd Yazid confirmed the latest arrests, stating the case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009. Three local authority staff held over alleged RM25,000 graft in Terengganu
KUALA TERENGGANU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested three local authority staff in Terengganu for allegedly accepting bribes amounting to RM25,000 in exchange for facilitating building plan approvals. The suspects, comprising two men and a woman in their 40s and 50s, were detained at 2.30pm yesterday when they turned up at the Terengganu MACC office to have their statements recorded. Magistrate Yuhanis Mohd Roslan granted a six-day remand order after the MACC filed an application at the Kuala Terengganu magistrate's court this morning. A source said the trio are believed to have committed the offences between 2015 and 2019. "They are suspected of receiving various sums totalling RM25,000, channelled into their personal bank accounts via fund transfers from a private company," the source said. The arrests were made following the detention of a government agency director in January over a separate RM900,000 graft case. Terengganu MACC director Hazrul Shazreen Abd Yazid, when contacted, confirmed the arrests and said the case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009. He said more arrests may follow as investigations progress.

"Initial investigations found that the three suspects allegedly committed the offences between 2015 and 2019. "They are believed to have received bribes amounting to about RM25,000 through separate fund transfers into their respective personal bank accounts,' the source said, adding that the alleged bribes involved 14 projects. The source also said the arrests followed the detention of a government agency director in January over a bribery case involving some RM900,000. State MACC director Hazrul Shazreen Abd Yazid confirmed the arrests when contacted, saying the case was being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009. Five students remanded in bullying case
Young suspects: The five MRSM students being remanded to assist in investigations over the bullying case in Kuala Terengganu. — Bernama KUALA TERENGGANU: Five students have been remanded to assist investigations in a bullying case at Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) in Besut. The three-day remand order, which expires tomorrow, was issued by Senior Assistant Registrar Yuhanis Mohd Roslan at the Magistrate's Court here yesterday. The five students, aged between 15 and 17, were remanded for investigation under Section 147 of the Penal Code, Bernama reported. Besut police chief Supt Azamuddin Ahmad @ Abu said a Form Two student lodged a report alleging he was bullied by several Form Three students around 11.30pm on Tuesday. In a statement on Thursday, he said the boy suffered pain in his abdomen and right rib, as well as bruises on his back. The incident was discovered by a dormitory warden who informed the victim's family.
