Wimbledon's organisers won't be making any changes despite Yulia Pitintseva raising major fears over a spectator
Wimbledon chiefs say they are happy with security and won't be making any changes after Yulia Putintseva demanded a spectator was removed – amid fears he had a KNIFE.
World No.33 Pitintseva halted her match with Amanda Anisimova after voicing fears over one person in the crowd she described as 'dangerous' and 'crazy.'
She said she wouldn't be resuming play until the person was removed and umpire Fabio Souza came down to speak to the Kazakh player who was heard saying: 'Can you take him out? I am not going to continue playing until he leaves. These people are dangerous, they are crazy.
'Take him out, because maybe he has a knife and he will attack."
But now the PA News agency report that Wimbedon organisers are happy with the security measures and won't be making any changes.
The All England Lawn Tennis Club are said to be "happy with safety protocols at the tournament and not planning to make any changes."
It's unclear exactly what the accused spectator had done to raise concerns but the 30-year-old was visibly shaken by the incident during her 6-0 6-0 defeat.
She was seen in tears after the match.
An AELTC spokesperson said during the match: 'Following a complaint about the behaviour of a spectator at the match on Court 15, the chair umpire informed security and the matter was dealt with.'
Anisimova meanwhile only saw the spectator in question 'say something when (Putintseva) was about to serve' but added that she as 'sure we were protected.'
