Ukrainian drone raid leaves 150,000 without power in Russia

A large-scale Ukrainian drone attack overnight has left more than 150,000 residents without electricity in Russia's Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), with additional damage and casualties reported in the southern Rostov Region, local officials have confirmed. The assault began late Monday night and continued for over an hour. Ukrainian forces reportedly launched dozens of UAVs that targeted infrastructure across Donetsk, Makeyevka, and Yasinovataya, causing widespread blackouts after several electrical substations were struck. Local witnesses reported loud explosions and the sound of UAVs across several districts, with air defenses active throughout the night. A major blaze was seen in Donetsk's Kuibyshevsky district, while one drone reportedly crashed into a residential building in the Kievsky district. Emergency crews were deployed to multiple sites. No civilian injuries were reported in Donetsk as of Tuesday morning. In the neighboring Rostov Region, Governor Yury Slyusar confirmed that Ukrainian drones were intercepted over five districts: Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Salsk, Volgodonsk, Bokovsky, and Tarasovsky. Despite air defenses, several drones struck civilian areas. One fatality was reported in Volgodonsk, where a drone strike damaged a vehicle, killing the driver. A private home in Salsk sustained roof damage and broken windows, while a fire also broke out at a local railway station. At least one passenger train 'was moved to a safe distance' amid the raid, according to Slyusar. Russian Railways (RZhD) reported that train traffic through Salsk station in Rostov Region was temporarily suspended after drone debris caused a fire on a freight train. There were no injuries, and the blaze was quickly contained, the company said. Ukraine has been conducting UAV raids deep into Russian territory for months, often striking residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure. The Russian government has condemned the attacks as 'terrorist acts' that deliberately target civilians. In May, a string of suspected Ukrainian sabotage operations on Russian railroads caused the derailment of a passenger train in Bryansk Region, killing seven civilians and injuring dozens more.

99 Ukrainian drones shot down overnight

Nearly 100 Ukrainian drones were intercepted in Russian airspace overnight, the country's Defense Ministry reported on Sunday. The large-scale raid comes as Kiev continues to escalate its use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) despite renewed diplomatic contacts with Moscow. According to the ministry, 67 drones were shot down over Bryansk, Smolensk, and Kaluga regions. Another 30 UAVs were intercepted in the south of Russia, targeting Volgograd, Rostov, Voronezh, and Kursk regions, as well as the Crimean Peninsula. Several others were downed near Moscow and within Nizhny Novgorod, Oryol, and Tambov regions. Regional authorities have reported no casualties or significant damage. Acting Governor of Rostov Region Yury Slyusar confirmed there were no injuries. Smolensk Governor Vasily Anokhin acknowledged the raid but said there was no immediate information about damage or victims. In Volgograd Region, drone debris damaged a section of overhead electric lines on the railway in Oktyabrsky District, according to local officials. Ukraine has carried out repeated UAV strikes deep into Russian territory for several months, often striking residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure. The Kremlin has condemned the attacks as 'terrorist actions' that deliberately target civilians. The latest incident follows a new round of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, which was held in Istanbul earlier this week. While no ceasefire was reached, the two sides made progress on humanitarian issues, including agreements on the exchange of prisoners of war and civilians. Russia has reiterated its openness to a diplomatic solution, but insists any deal must address what it describes as the root causes of the conflict and its long-standing security concerns.

Ukrainian drones target Moscow and other Russian regions

Russia's air defenses destroyed dozens of incoming Ukrainian drones across multiple regions on Sunday night and early Monday morning, as Kiev continues to intensify UAV raids deep into Russian territory. At least nine drones headed toward the Russian capital were intercepted by 3:00am Monday, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said on Telegram, adding that emergency services were working at the crash sites where debris fell. The raids also affected Russia's southern Rostov Region, where Governor Yury Slyusar reported multiple interceptions in the towns of Shakhty, Novoshakhtinsk, and Novocherkassk. There were no casualties, according to the governor, but one UAV damaged the 'old control room' of a railway station in a mining settlement near Shakhty. Debris from another drone struck a private house, a summer kitchen, and two cars in a nearby village, Slyusar said. Kiev has significantly stepped up long-range UAV strikes over the past week, with the Russian Defense Ministry reporting multiple waves of drone interceptions each day. In its latest update, the ministry said a total of 43 drones were downed in less than four hours between 8:00pm and 11:30pm on Sunday across the Bryansk, Oryol, Kaluga, Belgorod, and Moscow regions. The Russian government has previously denounced such raids as 'terrorist attacks,' claiming they often target residential buildings and civilian infrastructure. In response, the Russian military carried out a series of strikes last week on Ukrainian defense industrial facilities involved in the production of drones and missile components.

In southern Russia, Ukrainian drone mishap claims a life

Yury Slyusar reported via Telegram that a two-storey building in the village of Dolotinka, Rostov, sustained damage from the drone strike, which caused a floor slab to collapse, resulting in the death of a retired woman and former teacher. Slyusar also noted that the threat of further drone attacks persists in the Rostov region, with all forces on high alert to counter any enemy actions. He mentioned that 20 residents were evacuated from the building. Additionally, a man was injured by shrapnel in a separate drone attack in a district of the Moscow region, as reported by Russia's TASS news agency. This incident occurred amid ongoing Russian missile and drone strikes on Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, overnight, which left 19 people wounded, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. He added that 14 individuals were hospitalized due to the attacks. The strikes also caused damage to railways, leading to delays of up to two hours for passenger trains, as reported by Ukraine's national railway company. More than three years into Russia's military offensive in Ukraine, fighting continues unabated, with attempts at a truce remaining stalled.

Woman killed in Ukrainian drone raid on Russia (VIDEOS)

At least one civilian was killed and several others injured as Ukrainian drones targeted multiple regions of Russia overnight, damaging residential buildings and infrastructure, local authorities have said. A woman died in Rostov Region when a drone crashed into an apartment building in the village of Dolotinka, acting Governor Yury Slyusar confirmed early Friday morning. The two-story residential block partially collapsed after the impact, killing a retired woman who had worked as a teacher. Twenty residents were evacuated, and emergency teams were dispatched to the site. The drone raids also affected the Azov and Tarasovsky districts in Rostov Region. In Azov, a blast shattered windows in a residential building, and debris from another drone landed on a local stadium. No casualties were reported in those incidents. At least four drones were reported to have crashed in the Sergiyevo-Posadsky District of Moscow Region, according to Governor Andrey Vorobyov. Two civilians were injured, including a 60-year-old man who suffered a closed head injury and lost three teeth, and a 40-year-old man who sustained an open neck wound and a chest contusion. The drone strike also damaged a local substation, causing temporary power outages in several neighborhoods, according to the head of the Sergiyevo-Posadsky District, Oksana Yerokhanova. Emergency services and energy workers remain on-site to restore electricity and assess the damage. Officials said Russian air defenses successfully engaged most incoming targets but acknowledged that some drones penetrated the defenses, causing 'tragic consequences.' The Russian Defense Ministry said a total of 48 drones were intercepted over five regions overnight, including 26 in Rostov, 12 in Kursk, six in Belgorod, three in Oryol, and one in Lipetsk Region. Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials have claimed that the Russian military launched a wave of missile and drone strikes targeting Kiev. Multiple blurred-out videos shared on Ukrainian social media appeared to show the aftermath, with numerous fires lighting up the city skyline. The Russian Defense Ministry has yet to issue an official statement regarding the reported strike. However, it regularly conducts missile and drone operations against Ukrainian military infrastructure, maintaining that it does not target civilians and accusing Kiev of placing air defense systems in densely populated areas.
