KFC Japan cooking up new yuzu Japanese citrus katsu sandwiches for summer

Yuzu and shichimi add distinctive delicious Japanese flavors to the fried chicken house from Kentucky. Kentucky Fried Chicken Japan isn't shy about leaning just as heavily into the second geographic part of its name as it does the first. So while sure, they're happy to hook you up with a bucket of the Colonel's original-recipe fried chicken, they also regularly offer items that feature Japanese culinary creativity, and that's what's on the way with a new sandwich that's joining the KFC Japan menu: the Yuzu Shichimi Wafu Chicken Katsu Burger. We've got a lot to chew on linguistically there, so let's start at the beginning. Yuzu (pictured above) is a kind of Japanese citrus fruit that's somewhere between a lemon and a lime, but with a sharper finish to its flavor profile that better balances its sweet and tart notes. Shichimi (seen below) is a mixed chili pepper seasoning which often contains powdered orange peel, giving it a flavorful spiciness with a faintly citrusy impression. Meanwhile, wafu is a classical way of saying 'Japanese-style,' alluding to the teriyaki sauce that spread all across the chicken cutlet ('katsu'). That cutlet gets placed between whole-wheat buns, topped with shredded cabbage (the customary accompaniment for cutlets in Japan), and finished with a generous dollop of yuzu-juice and shichimi-infused mayonnaise sauce. The Yuzu Shichimi Wafu Chicken Katsu Burger can be had by itself for 490 yen (US$3.40), as part of a set with a medium drink and small order of fries for 900 yen, or, if you can't imagine going into KFC and not getting some straight-up fried chicken, as a combo with the drink, fries, and a piece of Original Recipe for 1,200 yen (both of the combos can be had for 160 yen less as lunch sets, offered between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.). Appearing alongside the Yuzu Shichimi Wafu Chicken Katsu Burger on the menu is a regular Wafu Chicken Katsu Burger with conventional mayonnaise, for which a la carte and combo prices are all 50 yen less. Both sandwiches are on sale as of June 4 at KFC branches across Japan and will be available for a limited time. TV Host Tried To Eat 'Hottest Chicken Wings' On Live TV And Wow Did It Not Go Well

A British TV host laughed off warnings as he attempted to eat what are supposed to be the nation's hottest chicken wings. A few minutes later, he wasn't laughing anymore. ITV Racing's Luke Harvey ordered the wings from the Yuzu stand at the racetrack last week, and declined the gloves and eye protection offered. 'They can't be that hot,' he said and then bit into the chicken. Within seconds he was in obvious pain, gagging as the Yuzu workers chuckled. He fled to the nearby tables and took what seemed like someone else's beer. Any relief was fleeting. 'I'm going home,' he said. He started to walk off, but then doubled over in pain again: Maybe this was a mistake 🥵😅The hottest chicken wings in Great Britain LIVE on ITV#ITVRacing | @ — ITV Racing (@itvracing) May 15, 2025 Harvey told The Mirror that he thought taking a bite of the wings would be 'a bit of fun' 'I thought my tongue was going to fall off, it was so hot,' he said. 'It was nice tasting, just bloody hot.' Harvey admitted to the newspaper that the beer part of the bit was staged ― but he didn't realize just how much he would actually need it when the time came. 'When I went to grab my Guinness, he wouldn't let me have it!' he said. 'I ended up yanking it off him and he literally gave me a death stare afterwards.'

Toyota's 2026 GR86 Yuzu Edition: A bold new look for the iconic sports car

Toyota's 2026 GR86 Yuzu Edition: A bold new look for the iconic sports car Show Caption Hide Caption Self-driving tech coming to personally owned vehicles Waymo & Toyota have announced a partnership to co-develop autonomous vehicle platforms, aiming to integrate Waymo's self-driving technology into Toyota's POV's. Cheddar Toyota's GR86 sports car is still around, and still without a (factory) turbocharger. That quick razz out of the way, the GR86 is being kept fresh — or at least fresh in the minds of customers — by way of yet another special-edition variant for 2026. Following similar efforts in past years such as the GR86 Trueno Edition and last year's Hakone model, the 2026 Toyota GR86 Yuzu special edition wears its name on, well, its entire body: "Yuzu" is denotes the blazing yellow paint that comes standard. Lest you think this special-edition GR86 has all the depth of that coat of paint, just wait. This specific yellow hue has a history tied to Toyota's 2+2 sports car — it dates back to the 2015 Scion FR-S Series 1.0 release. (Remember: The GR86 was preceded by the Toyota 86, a name- and badge-swapped variant of the Scion FR-S that carried on the lineage after Toyota's affordable and youth-focused Scion brand was buried in the backyard in 2016.) Seeing as how time these days seems to stretch on forever, 2015 feels like a different era altogether, seemingly so far back that we'll give the Yuzu revival credit for being "retro." Electric vehicles on the horizon: Toyota teases smaller, cheaper compact EV SUV Not-so-mellow yellow The yellow theme continues beyond the sheetmetal, with yellow accents brightening the stitching on the steering wheel, handbrake handle and door padding. Yellow is also used on the otherwise black sueded seat upholstery. The black-and-yellow contrast is further set off by the 18-inch matte-black wheels. Every Yuzu Special Edition GR86 comes with the GR86's Performance package standard, which means up-sized Brembo front and rear brakes and SACHS-brand shock absorbers. This setup is available as a dealer-installed kit on other GR86s, so its factory inclusion here is matched only by the 2024 GR86 Trueno special edition. Toyota says Yuzu buyers can also add an accessory cat-back exhaust and even a body kit, seemingly for extra cost. 2025 Toyota SUVs: What's new with RAV4, Highlander, 4Runner and Crown Signia Mechanically, the Yuzu is otherwise identical to other GR86s. A 2.4-liter flat-four engine lives under the low hood, making 228 hp and 184-lb-ft of torque, and doing its work through a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Don't get us wrong, the GR86 is huge fun to drive, but it's merely satisfyingly quick — it is not fast. It'll be rare Toyota will only ship 860 GR86 Yuzu Special Edition models to the U.S. market, making it sure to be a pretty rare sight on American roads. Hey, when was the last time you noticed a Scion FR-S Series 1.0? At least the Yuzu paint will make those rare sightings pop a bit more. Expect the 2026 GR86 and Yuzu versions to go on sale by this fall, near the end of 2025; final pricing, option availability and other details will be revealed closer to the launch. ITV presenter downs Guinness after eating Britain's hottest chicken wings

Luke Harvey agreed to taste the wings while he was broadcasting at York races for ITV in a hilarious segment which has now gone viral ITV Racing broadcaster Luke Harvey has described what it was like to try out Britain's hottest chicken wings. The plucky presenter is often deployed to provide the lighter moments when working for the network at the races. His latest appearance has become a viral hit after he agreed to try out a serving of what were billed as 'the hottest chicken wings in Great Britain' at York on Thursday. After placing an order of the hottest dish on the menu at the Yuzu stand, Harvey was given a pair of gloves and warned he may need safety goggles and a fire extinguisher. ‌ The server returned with a box of Korean Fried Wings cooked with the caterer's signature hot sauce and topped with chillies. ‌ But after taking one bite, Harvey began to gag and headed off to the bar to find a drink. Approaching a racegoer with a pint of Guinness, he said: 'Oi, give me that'. Seemingly reluctant to part with his drink, Harvey had to snatch the glass away in order to cool his burning mouth. Presenter Ed Chamberlin chimed in, 'I think it's fair to say, pray for Luke', as Harvey told viewers, 'I'm going home". Since the clip was published on social media, it has received more than 1.4 million views. Speaking to Mirror Racing on Friday, Harvey said: 'They were meant to be the hottest chilli chicken wings in Britain. I took a big bite out of one for a bit of fun. I thought my tongue was going to fall off, it was so hot. It was nice tasting, just bloody hot.' ‌ Harvey revealed the incident with the Guinness was pre-arranged even though the scene did not come off as he'd expected. 'I had this idea to take someone's pint because I would need something to drink after eating this chilli,' he explained. 'I asked this guy if he minded if I bought a Guinness and then pretended to take his Guinness off him. ‌ 'When I went to grab my Guinness, he wouldn't let me have it! I ended up yanking it off him and he literally gave me a death stare afterwards. I've only been at the races for 20 minutes and everyone has been commenting about this guy, surprised I haven't got a black eye!' Harvey has been getting comments about the incident everywhere he has been in York since. He said: 'We were out filming in York town centre this morning and as we walked past a green grocers someone drove past and shouted, 'Do you want any chicken wings?! Then the bloke in the grocers came out and said he sells the chillies to the caterer! Social media has gone crazy over it.'

Nintendo might brick your Switch if you break the rules

Console modding enthusiasts beware, Nintendo might take away your system. According to a recently updated account services user agreement and privacy policy, Nintendo reserves the right to, 'render the Nintendo Account Services and / or the applicable Nintendo device permanently unusable in whole or in part.' The change, first reported by Game File, came with a May 7th update and centers on Nintendo's policy regarding how players use their consoles and Nintendo accounts. Previously, the agreement called out the usual suspects of prohibited activities with users not allowed to, 'lease, rent, sublicense, publish, copy, modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble all or any portion of the Nintendo Account Services.' The new agreement has been expanded to include two additional subclauses of proscribed behaviors: 'Without limitation, you agree that you may not (a) publish, copy, modify, reverse engineer, lease, rent, decompile, disassemble, distribute, offer for sale, or create derivative works of any portion of the Nintendo Account Services; (b) bypass, modify, decrypt, defeat, tamper with, or otherwise circumvent any of the functions or protections of the Nintendo Account Services, including through the use of any hardware or software that would cause the Nintendo Account Services to operate other than in accordance with its documentation and intended use; (c) obtain, install or use any unauthorized copies of Nintendo Account Services; or (d) exploit the Nintendo Account Services in any manner other than to use them in accordance with the applicable documentation and intended use, in each case, without Nintendo's written consent or express authorization, or unless otherwise expressly permitted by applicable law.' In Nintendo's announcement of the changes to its privacy policy, the company also said it would, 'collect, monitor, and record audio and video of your chat sessions,' in preparation for the Switch 2's new chat functionality. With the Switch 2 launch less than a month away and with these further defined prohibitions, it's clear that Nintendo is refining its approach to console modders and emulator developers. Nintendo is involved in several lawsuits against those the company has claimed violated its intellectual property rights including one suit that resulted in the total destruction of the most popular Switch emulation program, Yuzu.
