10 P-pop songs to sing your heart out to this Buwan ng Wika
O kay ganda ng ating musika! This Buwan ng Wika, let's celebrate our heritage as Filipinos by exploring P-pop. The genre has been raising our flag beautifully not just with our idols' performing skills, but also with the songwriting in our national language. SB19 gave us "Dungka!" and BINI gave us "Salamin, Salamin," but here are 10 more songs from various P-pop groups which will make you proud to be a Filipino. 1. Alamat - 'Dagundong' Alamat is best known for championing Filipino culture in their songs, choreography, and overall performances. This is especially evident in "Dagundong," a song about embracing one's mandirigma side, and using that strength and pride to fight off the conquerors. 2. BGYO – 'Tumitigil ang Mundo' "Tumitigil ang Mundo" by BGYO is an essential love song. BGYO sings about how it feels like heaven to be with their special someone, and how one look can make the world stop. 3. Calista – 'Alas Dose' Calista's "Alas Dose" perfectly captures a Pinoy pop song about falling in love, with its mellow yet danceable melody. 4. Cloud 7 – 'Tara Na' Cloud 7's song "Tara Na" is a fun one! The tropical beat instantly brings you to an island in the Philippines, as the boys sing about making dreams come true with their supporters by their side. 5. G22 – 'Pa-Pa-Pa-Palaban' This list would be incomplete without the strong Filipina throat chakras of G22. The empowering song is about women being independent and ready for the challenges in these fast-changing times. 6. HORI7ON – 'Salamat' HORI7ON's "Salamat" blends the classic Filipino ballad with today's P-pop energy. The group sings about thanking their fans and everyone who has been a part of their journey so far. 7. Kaia - 'Tanga' Kaia's "Tanga" is a true must-listen as it brings together Filipino talent. Written and produced by Zack Tabudlo, the song is about the final parts of a relationship, or the difficulty of letting go while staying in love. 8. MNL48 – 'Pag-Ibig Fortune Cookie' 'Pag-Ibig Fortune Cookie' by MNL48 is not your typical Filipino pop song. In the P-pop track, the ladies sing about how music plays in a canteen, and that to be lucky in life, one must keep smiling. 9. Raya – 'Bongga Ka Day' Raya put a P-pop twist on the classic OPM song, "Bongga Ka Day!" This pre-debut song was remade for the modern day, with bubblegum pop and a high energy choreography. 10. Are Julie Anne San Jose, Zack Tabudlo, and Ben&Ben collaborating?
It looks like some of today's top OPM stars are cooking something together! Zack Tabudlo teased fans on Instagram with a photo with Julie Anne San Jose and Miguel and Paolo of Ben&Ben. There were microphones in front of the singers and music equipment boxes around them. No details about the project were revealed. Zack simply captioned, "soooooon." Fans shared their excitement in the comments section, and filled it with fire and heart emojis. Zack signed to US-based record label Mercury Records in May. His latest single, 'Manloloko' came out in April. Zack is best known for the songs 'Pano' and 'Give Me Your Forever.' Ben&Ben's latest album, 'The Traveller Across Dimensions,' was released in November 2024. It includes the tracks 'Could Be Something,' 'Comets,' and 'Triumph.' SB19 to headline Bicol Music Festival this June
SB19 will be headlining the Bicol Loco Hot Air Balloon and Music Festival this June! Aside from SB19, the concert will feature OPM icon Rico Blanco, rising stars Zack Tabudlo, Dwta, Earl Agustin, Hev Abi, Fred Engay, Rise High, and Never The Stranger. South Korean artists Kim Ji Soo and Kim Won Shik will also take the stage. The concert will be held on June 14 to 15 at the Legazpi Festival Grounds in Albay. Tickets are priced at P499 for VIP Seated, P399 for Mosh Pit Standing, P299 for VIP Standing and P199 for General Admission. They are now available via the SM Ticket website. SB19 is fresh from their two-night "Simula at Wakas" kickoff concert at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan over the weekend.
