Mother and son killed in three-vehicle collision
SEGAMAT: A mother and her son were killed in a three-vehicle accident at Km148 of Jalan Johor Baru–Seremban near Chaah here earlier today. Segamat police chief Superintendent Ahmad Zamry Marinsah said the victims, a woman in her 70s and her son in his 30s, were travelling in a Perodua Viva when it was rear-ended by a four-wheel drive vehicle, which was driven by a man in his 70s. The impact caused the car to veer into the opposite lane. "A lorry driven by a man in his 40s was approaching from the opposite direction and was unable to avoid the car, resulting in a collision," he said when contacted. Both mother and son sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by a medical team. Zamry said the drivers of the four-wheel drive and the lorry were uninjured. He said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Police nab Segamat Peeping Tom, find 16,000 images of women in his phone
SEGAMAT: A man in his 20s has been detained for allegedly spying on and recording a woman in the toilet of a restaurant in Bandar Putra, here on May 4. District police chief, Superintendent Ahmad Zamry Marinsah said the suspect is believed to have used his mobile phone to film the victim at about 10.38pm. "The woman noticed suspicious movement and then spotted a phone pointed towards her while in the toilet. She immediately exited and lodged a report," Zamry said. Police arrested the suspect on May 9 and found about 16,000 images of women stored in his mobile phone. Also found were two videos believed to have been recorded secretly when his alleged female victims were using the toilets. Zambry said the case is being investigated under Sections 377D and 292 of the Penal Code for gross indecency and possession of obscene materials. He also advised the public to remain vigilant in public spaces and report any suspicious activity to the police.
