AD Ports Group, Kazakhstan Railways commence operations of GulfLink joint venture
9 July 2025 15:36 ASTANA (WAM) AD Ports Group announced today the commencement of operations of its Central Asian logistics joint venture, GulfLink Ltd., with KTZ Express, the freight arm of Kazakhstan 51% percent owned by AD Ports Group, and 49% by KTZ Express JSC, a multimodal transport and logistics subsidiary of Kazakhstan Railways (Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, or KTZ), aims to transform Central Asia's logistics landscape, where AD Ports Group has been building a presence in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Zayed AlShamsi, Regional CEO - AD Ports Group, said, 'We are pleased to announce the commencement of operations for our GulfLink joint venture with KTZ Express in Kazakhstan, one of Central Asia's fastest growing economies, and a key link in our strategy to upgrade the Middle Corridor route through Central Asia into a major, commercial East-West trade artery linking consumers and manufacturers in Asia and Europe. NHRI Conducts Inspection at Dubai Labour Facility to Uphold Workers' Rights
In a move to reinforce its commitment to protecting human rights in the UAE, the National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) conducted a field inspection at a labour accommodation facility in Dubai Industrial City. The visit was led by Ameirah Al Seraidi, Member of the NHRI's Board of Trustees, alongside fellow board members Dr. Zayed Al Shamsi and Noor Al Suwaidi, and NHRI Secretary-General Dr. Saeed Al Ghfeli. Accompanied by a team of technical and human rights experts, the NHRI delegation met with workers individually and in small groups to assess their living conditions and listen to their feedback. These visits are part of a broader initiative to ensure that the rights of workers are fully respected, in line with UAE legislation and international human rights conventions. Maqsoud Kruse, Chairperson of the NHRI, emphasized the institution's dedication to monitoring and improving the welfare of workers across the country. 'The National Human Rights Institution spares no effort to promote and protect the rights of workers in the UAE,' he said. 'This visit reflects our firm keenness to continuously monitor their conditions and ensure the provision of a suitable work environment and decent living standards.' This visit marks a continuation of NHRI's field efforts, first launched in February under Clause (7) of Article (5) of Federal Law No. (12) of 2021. The law empowers the NHRI to conduct on-site inspections across various institutions, including labour accommodations, to ensure human rights compliance and raise awareness on key issues. The NHRI's field visits aim to drive practical improvements, provide policy recommendations, and support the UAE's ongoing efforts to uphold and advance human rights standards. National Human Rights Institution conducts field visit to labour accommodation facility in Dubai Industrial City
16 Apr 2025 23:07 ABU DHABI (WAM)As part of continuing efforts to promote and protect human rights in the UAE, the National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) delegation, led by Ameirah Al Seraidi, a Member of the NHRI's Board of Trustees, has conducted a field inspection visit to a labour accommodation facility in Dubai Industrial City. The visit was organised in alignment with the NHRI's commitment to monitor the living conditions of workers and ensure their full enjoyment of rights guaranteed by national legislation and international delegates included Dr. Zayed Al Shamsi and Noor Al Suwaidi, both Members of the NHRI's Board of Trustees, as well as Dr. Saeed Al Ghfeli, Secretary-General of the NHRI, accompanied by a number of specialised technical and human rights experts from the the visit, the NHRI team held individual meetings and side discussions with a number of workers to assess their living conditions and listen to their observations. These field visits are a vital part of the NHRI's efforts to directly monitor and evaluate the situation on the ground and to provide practical recommendations and proposals that enhance and safeguard workers' on the visit, Maqsoud Kruse, Chairperson of the NHRI, stated, 'The National Human Rights Institution spares no effort to promote and protect the rights of workers in the UAE. This visit reflects our firm keenness to continuously monitor their conditions and ensure the provision of a suitable work environment and decent living standards.' The NHRI launched its first field visit in February this year under Clause (7) of Article (5) of Federal Law No. (12) of 2021, which grants the NHRI the authority to 'conduct field visits to correctional and rehabilitation institutions, detention centres, labour facilities, healthcare and educational institutions, and shelters to monitor human rights conditions.' The visits aim to raise awareness and ensure compliance with national and international human rights laws and standards.
