A new electronic dance music festival is coming to Sacramento in October. Organizers revealed Tuesday that the Breakaway Music Festival's Northern California stop will be in Sacramento on the weekend of Oct. 11-12. Touting itself as the largest touring music festival in the U.S., Breakaway will be hitting seven other cities from May to October before coming to Sacramento. The festival features electronic dance music, with other cities attracting headliners like The Chainsmokers, Zedd, Tiësto, Afrojack and Marshmello. Sacramento's lineup hasn't dropped yet, but organizers said it will be announced soon. Early bird tickets for the festival are already on sale. Breakaway organizers didn't reveal where the festival will be held in Sacramento. However, Breakaway will happen the weekend that the GoldenSky Country Music Festival would have taken place, but that event was put on hiatus until 2026. The weekend before Breakaway is Sacramento's largest music festival, Aftershock.

Many tried to guess who the artist could be. Some guesses include Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Bruno Mars, Billie Eilish, Adele, Celine Dion, The Weekend, or Zedd. Others believe it could be newer artists like Sabrina Carpenter or Olivia Rodrigo. Meanwhile, some think the renowned artist Abdul Karim mentioned could be bands like Michael Learns To Rock, Backstreet Boys, or ABBA. But, these bands are not Americans though. Netizens also jokingly said they would take out their funds from ASB to attend the concert and asked for the concert dates to be announced earlier so they could save up early. Really though, who is it? Abdul Karim, the minister for tourism, creative industry, and performing arts, did not reveal the name of the artist making their way to Sarawak. Instead, he shared that large-scale concerts would attract visitors from neighbouring countries like Indonesia and Brunei, and this would help boost visits to Sarawak. He mentioned how Indonesian songstress Hetty Koes Endang's concert in the state led to a three-day congestion at the border checkpoint complex in Tebedu at the Sarawak-Indonesian border. Sarawak's concert schedule is well on its way with three concerts slated to be held in Miri next month, involving Indonesian artistes. Coachella 2025: Easter costumes, a gorgeous sunset and other highs and lows from Sunday

The final day of the 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival arrived on Easter, with tens of thousands choosing to worship the deities of good music at the Empire Polo Club. Although the day featured fewer surprises than Friday or Saturday of Weekend 2, it still held captivating performances from the likes of Post Malone, Jennie, Megan Thee Stallion and more. Walking into Coachella on Sunday, the parking attendants cheered on attendees by shouting out the holidays taking place. Easter, Passover and the marijuana-themed 4/20 both occurred on Sunday. Judging from the smoke emitting from the Empire Polo Club the entire day, it seemed pretty obvious which holiday festivalgoers celebrated. That's not to say no one took note of the Christian holiday, however. Someone dressed as the Easter bunny wandered the grounds, while bunny ears and crosses could be seen throughout the day. There's nothing like a childhood game to rekindle the joys of being a kid. That happened at around 5:20 p.m. on Sunday during Ben Böhmer's set. As the German DJ played melodic house music, attendees fanned a rainbow parachute as others ran beneath it. The activity evoked many memories of elementary school for me, and I know I wasn't the only one thinking it. It proved to be such a good idea that dozens of people ran toward the parachute as soon as it was unveiled by an anonymous spectator. Coachella attendees know to look out at sunset for the golden hues of the sun setting below the mountains. They were treated to quite the treat on Sunday, with the clouds changing into a pinkish orange color as the sky darkened. Dozens of people took out their phones to snap the special moment. It was the perfect way to close out an epic weekend. Honorary high from the editor: Jessie Murph crushed her Weekend 2 set Sunday and used the performance as an opportunity to not only cover Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats," but also to break the news of her upcoming tour. By the last day of the festival, the grass in certain parts of the Empire Polo Club has been trampled into oblivion. High-traffic areas have been ground to bare dirt, and the dust is kicked up into the air. It's unavoidable, in a dry environment where hundreds of thousands of people have walked, but it's still a bit of a downer when you sit down and get little pieces of dead grass on your shorts. Usually sound issues are a Weekend 1 thing, but this year, fans of Beabadoobee were subjected to an unreliable mix that drowned out some of the high-pitched tones. The mic also cut out during Beabadoobee's first song, creating an awkward beginning. The mixing issues appeared throughout the set, with an overpowering bass making it difficult to hear the singing and guitars. Honorary low from the editor: Alessia Cara, one of Zedd's several special guests, also experienced mic issues, which was a huge bummer for those of us who were super excited when she ran out to surprise the crowd. She also was out there for only one song, so she didn't get the chance to redeem herself. There were so few special guests for the last day of Coachella 2025, I'm actually struggling to remember who brought anyone out other than Zedd and Ty Dolla $ign. Here's some of the better-known artists who surprised us last week by bringing out another performer, yet brought nobody out this week: Jennie Megan Thee Stallion Jessie Murph Junior H Shaboozey (this one is only half correct, technically. Nobody performed with the country star, but he did bring retired racer Jeff Gordon out to thank him for being an inspiration) Another festival has come and gone, which means both the highs and the lows of Coachella will fade into memory ... until next year, that is. No matter how footsore or sleep-deprived you might be, it's always a bummer to wake up on Monday to the realization it's all over. Oh well, time to think about who might headline in 2026.
