Poké na Praia: poké bowls have a new home in Estoril
On the other side of the tunnel at Praia da Poça, you'll find this tiny take-away spot where poké bowls rule the menu. Poké na Praia opened on July 3rd, the brainchild of Rob Hornman, a 57-year-old Dutch national who's been living in Portugal for a decade. 'After an international career in hospitality, I retired from corporate life and decided to launch a new business around healthy food concepts,' he tells Time Out Cascais. 'Food concepts that can work in small shops like this one, but also make sense in a delivery format.' The 30-square-metre space comes with a tiny outdoor terrace, featuring a handful of bench seats and a counter with room for around a dozen people. 'It was an opportunity. I found the place and fell in love with it – and with the location,' says Rob Hornman. 'The spot itself inspired the concept for Poké na Praia – being so close to the beach, it would've been a shame not to make that one of its main strengths. Maybe if I'd done a market study I'd have chosen another location, but I trust my instinct and believe in love at first sight.' There are four signature poké bowl combos to choose from – those refreshing Hawaiian-style salad bowls that have become a global hit, and fit in perfectly with beach life in Portugal. You start by picking a base – sushi rice or quinoa– and a protein, which can be tuna, salmon, or Portobello mushrooms marinated in soy. The Mellow bowl features avocado, pineapple, edamame, cucumber, crispy onions, spring onions, coconut and a miso dressing; the Fresh comes with avocado, mango, green apple, coriander, red onion, walnuts and a yuzu-miso sauce; the Zesty includes avocado, orange, edamame, cucumber, wakame seaweed, peanuts and a tangy yuzu-tahini dressing; and, for those who like a bit of heat, the spicy Tangy bowl brings together avocado, physalis, wakame, red onion, pickled ginger, furikake seasoning and a punchy sriracha-ponzu sauce. All bowls are €13.90, with the option to add extras like mini skewers of salmon, tuna or Portobello mushrooms (€5); a bowl of edamame (€2); or sides like marinated cucumber or wakame salad (€3). They also serve açaí bowls (€3.50) and fruit salad (€4.50) – perfect for a beach snack. Wash it all down with fresh fruit juices. 'Our culinary concept was developed by incredibly talented Portuguese chefs with international experience in high-calibre restaurants,' says Hornman. 'We wanted to create something high-quality and truly distinctive.' The Dutch entrepreneur adds that he's already working on more ideas set to be unveiled soon. 'We're developing a portfolio of premium healthy food concepts, specifically designed for the delivery market – pairing thoughtful menus with strong, recognisable brands.'

Vitalhub concludes Induction Healthcare acquisition
Canadian software company Vitalhub has announced the completion of its previously announced acquisition of Induction Healthcare Group. The acquisition was finalised through a court-sanctioned scheme of arrangement under Part 26 of the Companies Act 2006. Vitalhub consented to the acquisition terms in April, agreeing to a cash purchase that values Induction Healthcare at approximately £9.7m ($13.06m). Induction is known for its primary products, Zesty and Attend Anywhere, both of which are designed to enhance the patient journey and streamline hospital operations. Zesty serves as a patient engagement platform, while Attend Anywhere facilitates secure video consultations for healthcare organisations. For the six months ending on 30 September 2024, Induction reported revenues of £5.4m, with a gross margin of 78.2% and an adjusted EBITDA loss of £0.9m. Zesty generated £2m and Attend Anywhere reported £3.2m in revenues, with a small portion from discontinued operations. During acquisition, Zesty's annual recurring revenue stood at £2.2m, and Attend Anywhere's virtual care recurring revenue was at £4.6m. VitalHub CEO Dan Matlow said: 'We see the Induction product set, in particular the Zesty platform, as highly complementary to our current suite of solutions. 'We believe our expanded end-to-end offering will enhance the value to our healthcare partners, improving the end-user experience and patient outcomes.' Vitalhub's acquisition of Induction for £0.10 per share aligns with its growth strategy, which includes both organic development and an aggressive approach to mergers and acquisitions. The company's product suite serves more than 1,000 clients across the UK, Canada, and other regions, with a workforce of over 500 employees worldwide. Induction's software solutions are designed to offer healthcare providers and administrators the ability to deliver care both remotely and face-to-face. This acquisition not only broadens Vitalhub's offerings but also aims to give communities more flexibility and ease of access to healthcare services. VitalHub to acquire Induction Healthcare
Canadian software company VitalHub has consented to the proposed terms for a cash purchase of the entire issued and forthcoming share capital of Induction Healthcare Group. The acquisition, which is to be executed via a court-sanctioned scheme of arrangement, values Induction at approximately £9.7m ($12.73m). Each shareholder of the company will receive £0.10 in cash for every share held. Induction delivers software solutions that focus on patient experience and healthcare delivery via hospitals. Its primary products, Zesty and Attend Anywhere, are designed to facilitate remote and face-to-face healthcare services. Patient engagement platform Zesty integrates with hospital systems to offer smart appointment management and digital services while Attend Anywhere provides secure video consultation capabilities. The acquisition is seen as a strategic move by VitalHub to complement and broaden its product offering. The integration of Zesty is particularly anticipated to add value to VitalHub's asset portfolio. In addition, the acquisition presents VitalHub with the opportunity to expand its product reach into new markets, including the UK, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. Induction is also expected to benefit from joining a larger global enterprise. The deal is set to be finalised by 31 July 2025, with a final cut-off date of 30 September 2025. Induction's financial performance for the year ended 31 March 2024 showed revenues of £14.4m, a gross margin of 78.4%, and an adjusted EBITDA loss of £0.3m. Zesty and Attend Anywhere contributed £4.9m and £8.8m in revenues, respectively. Edwin Coe will serve as VitalHub's legal adviser while Cavendish Capital Markets is the financial adviser for the acquisition. In July 2024, VitalHub consented to the acquisition of MedCurrent, a provider of clinical decision support systems, for a sum that could reach up to C$34m.
