Scarlett Johansson Becomes Highest-Grossing Actor in Hollywood History With $14.85 Billion at the Global Box Office — GeekTyrant
Scarlett Johansson just made box office history… again. Thanks to the roaring success of Jurassic World: Rebirth , Johansson has officially become the highest-grossing Hollywood actor of all time, overtaking a handful of her Marvel co-stars to claim the top spot. According to updated figures from The Numbers, Johansson's films have now grossed a staggering $14.85 billion worldwide. That figure includes her latest dino-sized blockbuster, Jurassic World: Rebirth , which opened to over $300 million globally, as well as past heavy-hitters like Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War , both of which easily cleared the $1 billion mark. It's not just the MCU and Jurassic franchises doing the heavy lifting. Johansson's resume also includes massive hits like The Jungle Book (2016), which pulled in nearly $1 billion on its own, and the sci-fi thriller Lucy (2014), which surprised everyone with a $460+ million haul on a modest budget. That's not even counting her voice work in Her or her role in Lost in Translation . She's been building toward this milestone since her first film appearance in North back in 1994. Meanwhile, her box office competition include Samuel L. Jackson, who currently sits in second place with $14.6 billion, followed by Robert Downey Jr. at $14.3 billion and Zoe Saldaña at $14.2 billion. Chris Pratt, another Jurassic and Marvel alum, rounds out the top five at $14.1 billion. Both Downey Jr. and Saldaña will have major boosts in the next couple of years. Downey is making a high-profile return to the MCU in Avengers: Doomsday , but this time as the iconic villain Doctor Doom. And Saldaña will return to Pandora in Avatar: Fire and Ash , the third entry in James Cameron's mega-franchise, hitting theaters December 19, 2025. With Johansson now at the top, her reign may be brief, but for now, it's a milestone for her.

Scarlett Johansson Is The Highest-Grossing Actor Ever After Leading ‘Jurassic World: Rebirth'
Black Widow Avengers and dinosaurs, that'll do it. In the wake of the box office devouring of Jurassic World: Rebirth, its lead, Scarlett Johansson, has just broken a Hollywood record. Totaling up the movies that Johansson has starred in, she is now the highest-grossing actor (not just actress) in Hollywood, surpassing fellow Marvel co-stars Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson and Zoe Saldana. The movies she's appeared in have made $14.8 billion at the box office. She's also done it with a little more than half of Jackson's movies, 36 films to his 71. Johansson's role as Black Widow in the MCU, mainly, has propelled her to the top, along with her newly successful dino project. All of these records are usually set by the actor in question being part of an ensemble, and seven of the top 10 on the list are involved in Marvel projects in some way. As for women bringing in this much money, the top 20 list only includes Johansson and Saldana, first and fourth place, and Harry Potter's Emma Watson at #16. So, how did Johansson do it? According to The-Numbers, these projects were the biggest contributors. Jurassic World Rebirth Jurassic Park: Rebirth's huge initial box office haul of $318 million put her over the edge, and that movie is probably on pace to hit a billion dollars when all is said and done. It's notable that her own Marvel film, Black Widow, only made $379 million in total. But yes, every film she's appeared in counts, and as an 'OG' Marvel member, that's been a lot of films. This not unique to the list; almost all of Jackson, Downey Jr. and Saldana's films are Marvel as well, many being smaller roles. Saldana is unique in the sense that she is a part of two huge franchises, one that she leads, the Avatar movies. Johansson's record is impressive, but one issue is that she's now…dead in the Marvel universe, with no indications that she will return. We know for a fact Downey Jr. is appearing in at least one more Avengers movie if not more MCU films past that. Sam Jackson will appear in many more Marvel projects, no doubt. It feels like Saldana's time as Gamora in the MCU is over, but she's going to keep starring in Avatar movies. However, now that Johansson has led a popular Jurassic Park movies, she could pull a Chris Pratt and star in a number of future ones. The race is on. Which is the best new child-meets-alien movie? We give Elio the edge
ELIO ★★★½ PG. 98 minutes Child meets alien: it's a tale as old as time, or at least a formula that goes back to E.T. Still, given that Disney and Pixar are two branches of the same company, there's something disconcerting about Pixar releasing Elio just a few weeks after Disney brought us the live-action version of Lilo & Stitch. Both films centre on a rambunctious young orphan who has trouble making human friends, but does better when extra-terrestrials are involved – and both incorporate the expected heart-tugging moments and moral lessons, along with parodies of science-fiction cliches. So which one should you or your children see? It's a matter of individual preference, but personally I'd have to give Elio the edge. Lilo & Stitch is mostly old-fashioned slapstick, though not lacking in charm. Elio is more ambitious, and also a whole lot weirder – which is a plus, though questions might be raised about the advisability of showing a child lying on a beach next to a message scrawled in the sand that reads 'ABDUCT ME,' granting he's spelled out he wants to be abducted by aliens, not just anyone. At any rate, it isn't long before young Elio (Yonas Kibreab) gets his wish. Light years away from planet Earth, he seems to have found his chosen family in a non-violent, technologically advanced collective of aliens known as the Communiverse, who accept and appreciate him as his well-meaning aunt back home (Zoe Saldana) never could. Naturally, there are complications. It's not that the members of the Communiverse are hiding anything sinister, but they've jumped to the false conclusion that Elio is Earth's leader. Rather than confess the humiliating truth, he volunteers for a dangerous diplomatic mission involving the monstrous Lord Grigon (Brad Garrett) – whose young son Glorgan (Remy Edgerly) proves to be even more of a misfit than Elio, with no true desire to move on from his larval form or join the family business of galactic conquest.
