KUWAIT CITY, April 15: Ties with Kuwait are based on understanding and mutual support since diplomatic relations were established in 1994, said Tajikistan Ambassador to Kuwait Zubaydullo Zubaydov on Tuesday. In an interview with KUNA on the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties, Ambassador Zubaydov -- also Dean of the Diplomatic Corps -- revealed that Kuwait was one of the first Gulf States to have recognized Tajikistan's independence, showing as a result, Kuwait's keenness on supporting stability and development in the central Asian region. The two countries took relations further by establishing embassies with Tajikistan opening its diplomatic mission in Kuwait in 2012 and Kuwait opening its embassy in Dushanbe the following year, he added. The Ambassador indicated that both countries continued to coordinate efforts within the regional and international arenas, which resulted in fruitful cooperation on all aspects including within the domain of economy. Investment There are more venues for both countries to explore, he affirmed, noting that Tajikistan has great investment potential for Kuwaitis within agriculture, hydroelectric energy, tourism, and much more. The joint Tajikistani-Kuwaiti committee for economic, commercial, and technical cooperation is an important platform that pushes the wheel of developing cooperation much further, he asserted, noting that continuous meetings amongst business personnel from both countries were vital in seeking mutual ventures and benefits. Ambassador Zubaydov welcomed all Kuwaiti companies eager to invest in Tajikistan's market, especially within transport and energy, stressing that his country was eager to work with such an important partner from the GCC region. In regards to developing cultural and educational cooperation, Ambassador Zubaydov underlined that such cooperation was important in building bridges of cooperation and understanding between the people of Kuwait and Tajikistan. He pointed out that many Tajik students were studying in Kuwaiti Universities, especially in majors such as the Arabic language and Sharia. The Ambassador expressed his country's willingness to organize joint cultural activities with Kuwait, saying that both nations could feature their cultural outputs and heritage during such events. The Ambassador also showcased a great desire to boost ties on the highest level whether through official state visits or jointly partaking in international activities. He noted that both countries could explore more cooperation within security as well as humanitarian work. He also asserted that both countries shared a joint vision concerning countering terrorism and extremism both regionally and internationally. Tajikistan has vast experience in handling cross-border security challenges and would like to share this experience with other countries, namely Kuwait, he affirmed. On the humanitarian level, the Ambassador expressed admiration to Kuwait's efforts within such domain especially through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) or charitable organizations. KUWAIT CITY, April 8: Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Tajikistan to Kuwait Dr. Zubaydullah Zubaydov recently organized a ceremony, honoring Ambassador of Benin to Kuwait Moudgaidou Soumanou Issoufou on the occasion of the end of his tenure in the country. The ceremony was held at the St. Regis Hotel, with several heads and representatives of diplomatic missions and a representative from the Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in attendance. On this occasion, Zubaydov welcomed all those who attended the farewell ceremony for the outgoing Beninese Ambassador. In his speech, Zubaydov praised the achievements of the outgoing ambassador throughout his eight years of work in Kuwait; during which he developed relations between the two countries and raised the level of cooperation in various fields. He revealed that Ambassador Soumanou presented his credentials to His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait on Feb 7, 2017. 'Over eight years, he distinguished himself by representing his country in Kuwait in addition to being accredited as its ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates (UAE),' he said. He added Ambassador Soumano, 66, a married father of three, proudly carried the flag of Benin 'During his tenure, he contributed significantly to strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between the Republic of Benin and the countries to which he is accredited,' he added. He also pointed out Ambassador Soumano's cooperation with his fellow heads of diplomatic missions in the country, wishing him success in his future assignments. Meanwhile, Soumano praised the development of relations between Kuwait and the Republic of Benin in many areas. In a press statement on the sidelines of the celebration, he revealed that 'important draft agreements have been initiated and are nearing completion. These include a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on domestic workers and an agreement on the mutual exemption from visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, official and special passports. Remarkable progress has also been made in economic and development cooperation.' He cited the intensification of cooperation with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), which has led to major investments in infrastructure projects. He also confirmed that negotiations are underway with Gulf airlines and shipping companies to establish direct air routes, which will open new channels for trade and investment between Benin and the Gulf region. He added the number of the Beninese community in Kuwait has grown from 900 individuals in 2017 to more than 8,800; reflecting successful efforts in this area. Regarding the appointment of a new ambassador for his country to Kuwait, he affirmed that a new ambassador has been appointed and will begin his duties within a month.

KUWAIT CITY, March 29: Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Tajikistan Dr. Zubaydullah Zubaydov has confirmed the opening of a Kuwaiti Embassy in the capital -- Dushanbe, as well as the appointment of a Kuwaiti ambassador there; indicating the opening is expected to take place within the next few months. At a press conference held recently to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Kuwaiti-Tajik relations, Zubaydov announced the allocation of land for the construction of the Tajik Embassy in the diplomatic zone in Mishref. He said construction will begin soon, without specifying a date. He also revealed that his country abolished entry visas for Kuwaitis; adding that during his meeting with Foreign Affairs Minister Abdullah Al- Yahya, they discussed facilitating the entry of Tajiks to Kuwait with the Kuwaiti side. He said the minister promised to consider this matter as soon as possible and to allow Tajiks to obtain electronic visas. He expressed his satisfaction over the achievements made so far; stressing 'our political relations are distinguished. We have signed approximately 30 cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding with Kuwait. We also have a program to develop economic relations between the two countries.' He confirmed the contributions of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) to the development process in Tajikistan, where the fund has financed six vital projects. He added 'Kuwait will host the Foreign Affairs Conference of the Gulf and Central Asian States in the middle of next month. The Tajik foreign affairs minister will attend the conference. A leaders' summit will be held in the Uzbek city of Samarkand in May and there is cooperation between the two countries in the field of combating terrorism; specifically the conference held in Kuwait on this issue, co-chaired by the United Nations, Kuwait and Tajikistan.' Regarding the supply of Tajik water to the Gulf region, he stated that 'Tajikistan was one of the countries under the former Soviet Union. It has approximately 60 percent of the water reserves in Central Asia, so it can supply the Gulf countries with fresh water through Iran.' He affirmed his belief in the possibility of implementing the project in the near future, as well as the possibility of cooperation in the field of electricity generation. He pointed out that Tajik President Emomali Rahmon chose Kuwait as the first Arab country he officially visited, reflecting Tajikistan's commitment to strengthen bilateral relations and learn from the experience of Kuwait as a developed country. He said 'the tourism sector is another area for strengthening cooperation between the two friendly countries. This progress has facilitated the establishment of direct flights between the capitals of Tajikistan and Kuwait through Kuwait Airways.' 'Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Kuwait, the foreign affairs ministries of the two countries have actively sought to implement the directives of their leaderships; thereby, strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual concern. Bilateral political consultations, several sessions of which have been held in the capitals of the two friendly countries, are considered the main mechanism for coordinating and overseeing these efforts,' he explained.

KUWAIT CITY, March 22: Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Tajikistan to Kuwait Zubaydullah Zubaydov said the holy month of Ramadan and the spring holiday (Nowruz) this year coincide with Tajikistan's celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Kuwait marking 30 years of cooperation, friendship and joint work in political, economic and cultural fields. In a speech during the Ramadan Ghabqa he organized at the embassy, Zubaydov stressed 'We have built bridges of trust and mutual respect. The scope of understanding has expanded in regional and international forums, in addition to strengthening trade and investment partnerships. Today, as we celebrate this achievement, we look forward to further strengthening our integrated relations and intensifying our efforts to achieve stability, peace and prosperity for our people. Our collective celebration of these auspicious occasions demonstrates the pivotal role that lofty humanitarian principles play in advancing peace and development in the world. The values we draw from Ramadan and the spring festival 'Nowruz' urge us to unite and demonstrate true solidarity in facing common challenges.' He confirmed the commitment to continue the close cooperation between Tajikistan and Kuwait in regional and international forums while enhancing coordination to achieve stability, security, and sustainable development. He explained that Nowruz is an international holiday celebrated by the United Nations, pointing out that the conjunction of Ramadan with Nowruz increases the joy of the meeting and gives it unique spiritual and cultural dimensions. Nowruz is the holiday of the arrival of the spring season in many agricultural societies and the beginning of the harvest season traditionally. It is celebrated internationally on March 21 of each year, as declared by the United Nations in honor of its ancient history and humanitarian dimensions.

Tajik residents in Kuwait visit embassy to vote in parliamentary elections

KUWAIT CITY, March 3: The Embassy of Tajikistan on Sunday opened its doors for its citizens residing in the country and who meet the electoral conditions to choose who will represent them in the Tajik Parliament, which consists of 63 members; coinciding with the parliamentary elections that their country witnessed on the same day. Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Tajikistan to Kuwait Dr. Zubaydullah Zubaydov expressed his deep gratitude to the ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior for providing all facilities to the embassy to make this electoral process a success. In a press statement on the sidelines of his participation in the elections, Zubaydov affirmed that the embassy opened its doors to Tajik citizens residing in the country, those entitled to vote according to the Constitution and are registered in the embassy lists whose number is estimated at 100. A total of seven parties, including the ruling party -- the People's Democratic Party of Tajikistan -- competed in these elections in three states. Zubaydov explained that the embassy opened its doors at 8:00 am and closed the ballot boxes at 8:00 pm, indicating the votes were counted in the presence of representatives of the community and the results were sent to the main headquarters of the Election Commission in Dushanbe
