Israeli intelligence chief thanks CIA for help in Iran war
Jun 25, 2025 10:57 PM IST The head of Israel's Mossad intelligence service thanked the US Central Intelligence Agency on Wednesday for its help in "joint" operations during the recent 12-day war with a video distributed to Israeli media on the second day of a fragile ceasefire between the warring countries, Mossad chief David Barnea thanked his agents for their work making Israel "safer, more powerful and better prepared for the future". Israel's attacks on Iran starting June 13 targeted not only the Islamic republic's missile and nuclear facilities, but also senior military figures and atomic scientists. Analysts say the strikes underlined how Israel's intelligence services had succeeded in penetrating the Iranian state, although the extent of the purported help provided by the CIA is unknown. The US military helped shoot down Iranian missiles fired at Israel, and US President Donald Trump ultimately joined Israel's campaign with strikes using massive bunker-busting bombs on Iranian nuclear facilities. "We will continue to keep our eyes wide open on all of Iran's undertakings -- projects we know in depth -- and we will be there, as we always have been," Barnea said in his video statement. After the ceasefire went into effect on Tuesday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed Israel would crush any effort by Iran to rebuild its nuclear programme.

Israel recovers body of soldier missing since 1982 war in Lebanon
Israel has recovered the remains of a soldier who had been missing since the 1982 war in Lebanon, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Sunday after a joint operation by Israeli intelligence agency Mossad and the army. The soldier Zvi Feldman was among several who died in a battle near the Lebanese village of Sultan Yacoub and had been missing ever since. The Israeli army announced that Feldman's body had been found "in the heart of Syria" and brought to Israel. The body of a second soldier, who had also been killed at the time, had been handed over six years ago. At the time, Russia had helped Israel in the search for the soldier's remains. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the remains were discovered by Russian special forces during an operation in Syria. Israel later released two Syrian prisoners, apparently in return for handing over the body.

Moreover, Israeli activists welcomed Feldman's body and raised awareness about the hostages taken by Hamas, whether alive or dead, due to the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, as they demanded their return.
