‘Auto Chala Le, Zyada Kamaega': Internet Roasts Rs 2.5 LPA Call Centre Job
Last Updated:
The post detailed a demanding work schedule of 10 hours a day and 6 days a week for candidates.
With longer work experience comes the expectation of a higher salary in the professional world. This isn't just a hopeful wish; it's how corporate growth, hierarchy, and everything work. But despite being an 'obvious' thing, not everyone earns the amount they truly deserve. Shedding light on the same, a recent LinkedIn job posting for a Customer Support Representative role has raised eyebrows.
The post detailed a demanding work schedule of 10 hours a day and 6 days a week for candidates. But what grabbed the most attention was the offered pay for candidates with three years of experience. As per the post, the company was offering Rs 2.5 LPA (Lakhs Per Annum), translating to an in-hand salary of Rs 20,000 per month.
What Did the Reddit User Post?
Condemning the low salary for the required experience, a Reddit user shared the screenshot of the post with the title, 'Exploitation at its peak! 3 years exp and 2.5 LPA."
He also questioned the sustainability of such a salary given the demanding work hours and the cost of living, stating, 'How is anyone in this country sustaining themselves? I want to lie down, cry, and just die," the post read.
How did the social media users react?
The post instantly went viral on social media, triggering a debate around companies underpaying their employees. A majority of users called the job post pathetic due to the discrepancy between the required experience and the advertised salary.
Another commented, 'At least they are paying 2.5; otherwise, there are people who pay a stipend of 10k, that's it."
'This is literally pathetic; 6-7 years of experience, then the budget is 7-8 LPA," added another user.
An individual stated, '60 hours/week, and that's just what's advertised, damn."
'What do you expect from a call centre job? I always thought these call centre jobs are like temporary jobs until you get a decent job," said a user.
'This is the reality of most jobs. While we might see people flexing 24 LPA+, we have to remember that for a usual person, even 12 LPA is a big deal. In fact, it is so sad that many can't even dream that they can make 50 LPA realistically because they don't know anyone close to them who makes that kind of money," wrote another person.
Some users pointed out that this might be a typical salary for a call centre or BPO role. A few also mentioned that there are better opportunities in different industries or companies.
