EastEnders' Kathy Beale star Gillian Taylforth, 69, reveals secret to her age-defying appearance

EASTENDERS star Gillian Taylforth has been spilling the beans on the secret to her age-defying appearance. Actress Gillian, 69, debuted as Kathy Beale in the BBC soap's very first episode, which aired in February 1985, and still looks the same. 6 6 6 6 Talking about her timeless look in the August issue of Prima magazine, Gillian - who turns 70 that month - said: 'It's very nice if people say lovely comments about how I look, but I don't do it for anyone other than myself. "Self-care helps me feel good about myself. "I am getting older, and I do notice changes, but for me, I just want to maintain my appearance for as long as can. "And if it all falls flat very soon, there's not much I could do about it.' Gillian also spilled her secrets to looking fab, and how others can also stay young. 'I always fill my water bottle with different fruits. Every morning, I have hot water and lemon and a detox tea bag," the actress told the magazine. "I'm disciplined with what I eat, but I don't deny myself and I'm meticulous with my skincare. "I also love keeping fit. I have a gym at home, but my schedule sometimes means I'm up at 5am, so I can't always make it work. "But I feel very lethargic if I don't do anything, so I have weights and a treadmill in my dressing room, so I can do a quick workout.' PRAISE FROM FANS Gillian has previously been praised for her youthful looks by fans. Watch shocking moment Kathy Beale snogs new lover behind his partner's back in EastEnders When the actress celebrated her 69th birthday last August, fans showered praise on her on an EastEnders-dedicated online group. One wrote: "69? More like 39..!!!! Some women just never seem to age.. Gillian is one those fortunate Ladies!!! She's great." Another stated: "Aged really well", as a fellow fan chimed in with: "Very pretty still today". EASTENDERS FAME Gillian's original Walford stint as spanned from 1985 to 2000. During this tenure, her character Kathy featured in hard-hitting storylines exploring domestic violence, rape, teenage pregnancy and alcoholism among others. In 2006, fans thought the character met her end after supposedly being killed in a road accident in South Africa. 6 However, almost a decade later, Kathy was revealed to be alive in one of the soap's biggest twists. Her "demise" was actually an insurance scam concocted by controlling husband Gavin Sullivan (Paul Nicholas), who also faked his death. Gillian appeared in several other shows during her time away from EastEnders. Notably, she portrayed Sandy Roscoe in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks from 2013 to 2015. Gillian also starred in the hit noughties drama, Footballers' Wives.

People Are Debating Whether Millennials Actually Look Younger Than They Are, And It's So Interesting

If you're a millennial who's ever been told "there's no way you're that old" or gotten carded well into your 30s, you're part of a bigger trend. The phenomenon of millennials looking younger than their actual age has become a hot topic across social media, with everyone trying to figure out what's behind our apparent age-defying powers. So when u/Logical-Plum-2499 asked if millennials generally look younger than they really are and why, the responses revealed some pretty fascinating insights about everything from our sunscreen habits to lifestyle choices. Here's what people had to say: 1."I have barely ever seen my boomer parents drink a glass of water. Every millennial I know has a giant emotional support water bottle." —u/No_Shelter_4434 2."Let's just talk about air quality. Since the 1970s, we have reduced air pollution by roughly 90% in North America. I'm thinking this is a key factor." "I'm wondering if millennials in other countries with poor air quality also look younger or if they look more aged." —u/douche9000 3."The lip fillers. They age people up so fast. I'm sure there are a lot of women walking around with really well-done fillers so you can't even tell, but why are you fucking with your face in your 20s?!" —u/lasthorizon25 4."In my experience, it isn't plastic surgery or filler — it's mostly that older generations' skin looked rougher and drier, and they styled themselves so dowdy and frumpy. They looked like they'd all had four kids and were too tired to brush their hair." —u/Zizi_Tennenbaum 5."Millennials are younger-looking at the same age than the generations before us because fewer of us smoked, and we were more health-conscious in general. There are definitely millennials in their 40s who are now getting into all the things that are supposed to make you look younger, but we're generally doing it at the age it was designed to help. We are the beneficiaries of the research that was done by boomers looking for the same effect. Gen Z looks older than we did at that age because some of their beauty regimens take an actual toll." "This is my wife's theory that I think holds water. Sunscreen became a thing at an age where it was still going to do us some good. But if you're doing Botox and fillers and removing buccal fat or what-have-you at 20, you are setting yourself up in a race against yourself for the rest of your life. Because if you think you needed that at 20, where do you go when you've been doing that to yourself for 10 years and now you're 30?" —u/faceintheblue Related: "That Sentence Sat In My Head For Months": Men Are Revealing The Most Hurtful Things A Woman Can Say To Them, And It's Actually Fascinating 6."Sunscreens have greatly improved in my lifetime. In the '80s, you could find SPF 4, 8, and maybe 16. They claimed to be waterproof but didn't last very long in water. Parents didn't understand that you need to reapply. I'm Irish, so I had some second-degree burns from a day at the pool or beach. SPF 50 probably came along in time to prevent major burns for millennials and Gen Z. The waterproof factor has also become so much better." —u/jendet010 7."My dermatologist said millennials are her lowest-risk group for skin damage because we were the first kids to have helicopter parents chasing us around with sunscreen. Guess all that embarrassing poolside sunscreen application paid off." —u/CharmingLady22 8."Many of the younger crowd don't go outside nearly as often as people used to — less damage from the sun, so skin stays younger." —u/Firstevertrex Related: Here Are 50 Pictures That Make Me Grin Uncontrollably No Matter How Many Times I've Seen Them, In Case You Need Them 9."My facialist recently remarked on younger people undergoing buccal fat removal, and said this is one of the worst things people can do as 'you'll need that fat as you age.' Otherwise, you end up with a sunken-looking face." —u/TelephoneShot8539 10."Our style of dress plays a big role. I remember growing up, women over 35 often dressed matronly. It was common to give up things like sex appeal or wearing short skirts, spaghetti straps, crop tops, etc. — unless you were a celebrity. These days, women don't really follow the whole 'what to wear when you're over 30' mindset. They're not locked into specific hairstyles or clothing based on age, and that shift changes how old someone looks a lot." "Now, this could be a chicken or the egg thing. If you look younger, you might pull off trends easier than if you look old, and therefore, feel comfortable in them. But I do think it's a contributing factor to the age thing." —u/nononanana 11."Less of us have kids, so we have less stress." —u/Hezza_21 "This is what I have noticed in my peers, late 30s to mid 40s. The lack of sleep and constant worry and stress of raising kids — and/or having them for bio moms — is hugely noticeable. People my age are having fewer kids, or forgoing parenthood altogether, and it definitely shows." —u/abqkat 12."Less of us perform physical jobs that are outside all day, too." —u/ExoMonk 13."Perspective is part of it. The older I get, the younger young people look to me. Same as how sometimes people my parents' age will say I'm youthful-looking, yet I see a badly aging slug." —u/invisiblebyday 14."I don't think millennials look younger than they really are. I think millennials look their age. If anything, previous generations looked older than they were because of smoking, sun tanning, lead poisoning, and haircuts that have aged poorly. Meanwhile, Gen Z thinks millennials look young because they think anyone over 25 is geriatric." —u/Atmosck 15."Gen Z has social media during their teen years, so their style is very curated compared to millennials. That's why when you compare high school pics, Gen Z looks so much older. The poorly put-together outfits and teenage awkwardness (seen with millennials) makes people look properly young." "I also imagine the surgical or near-surgical beauty enhancements will take a heavy toll on Gen Z as they age. That said, Gen Z being sad little homebodies who are obsessed with fitness and not drinking may help out in a big way in a few years. Drinking ages people, and Gen Z are too hyper-aware or afraid of being cringe to drink like millennials did." —u/Xianio 16."I think we look younger because Gen Z makes themselves look so much older." —u/anemia_ 17."The delayed-aging millennial vs. premature-aging Gen Z that kids these days are fretting about is by far my favorite pop culture trend. Warms the cockles of my cold, dead heart." —u/FartChugger-1928 What do you think — do millennials really look younger than previous generations did at the same age? Heather Graham left fans stunned with her braless look at film festival Filming Italy on Thursday. The Boogie Nights alum easily defied her 55 years in a plunging brown-lace and patterned gown - which flashed her ample cleavage - as she posed. Heather kept her make-up minimal and wore her signature flaxen mane side-parted in waves. 'I work out, eat healthy, do yoga, and mediate,' the Gunslingers actress revealed in her Retreat Magazine cover story last week. 'There's a very hard, sweaty class that I love.' Heather also avoids white flour and refined sugar and she doesn't drink alcohol or do drugs. Martha Stewart, 83, reveals her secret behind her taut skin as she showcases her age-defying looks

Martha Stewart has revealed the secret behind her taut looks as she showcased her age-defying looks in a youthful Instagram post on Thursday. The TV personality, 83, who shot to fame in 1990 after launching her magazine Martha Stewart Living, looked incredible as she confessed laser treatments are behind her snatched features. Martha visited WellTech client, LYMA's brand HQ in London where she experienced a signature LYMA Lift facial and picked up her own Laser PRO device. Sharing a snap of herself with the device - a clinical-grade cold laser technology claiming to reduce the appearance of wrinkles - Martha looked sensational as she held the device under her chin. Worth £4,995, it is 'engineered to make skin look younger by triggering a genetic switch inside each cell' and Martha branded her facial, 'the best she has ever had.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Alongside her snap, she penned: 'Last thing we did in London was visit @lucygoffy @lymalife for a facial and red light laser treatment performed by Scottish aesthetician Yvonne Martin, wow if all I can say!!!!!' Martha's MUA Daisy Toye has previously dubbed LYMA 'the best at-home laser in the game,' adding that both she and Martha 'love' the latest device. Laser light is uniquely constructed which allows the device to retain more energy as it penetrates the skin. Martha's post comes after she weighed in on the RecipeTin Eats plagiarism scandal after Brooke Bellamy was accused of copying the recipes of fellow Australian cook Nagi Maehashi. The celebrity chef said during her live event at Sydney 's ICC on Wednesday night that it was difficult to prove a recipe had been copied. 'I have so many recipes and it's hard to develop a recipe without having a repertoire behind it,' she told the audience. 'I don't think too many recipes are owned by anybody, they are handed down, used and changed.' However, Martha claimed that it can be considered plagiarism if a recipe is 'copied word for word'. 'If you print somebody else's recipe word for word in your own cookbook then it might be plagiarism but I think it's very hard to prove who actually came up with that recipe,' she said. 'So unless they are word for word, you can't say they're yours.' It comes after a second author accused social media cooking sensation Brooke of stealing recipes for her bestselling cookbook Bake With Brooki. Hours after RecipeTin Eats founder Nagi raised allegations of copyright infringement last month, Sally McKenney, the US author and blogger behind Sally's Baking Addiction, made similar claims. Brooke, who owns the popular Brooki Bakehouse in Brisbane, denied the accusations, saying she had been making and selling her recipes before Nagi's were published. The allegations relate to Nagi's caramel slice and baklava recipe, along with Sally's Best Vanilla Cake recipe. Sally posted her claims on social media, saying she was first alerted to the similarity months ago. She said her recipe was first published in 2019. 'One of my recipes was also plagiarised in this book and also appears on the author's YouTube channel,' she said. 'Original recipe creators who put in the work to develop and test recipes deserve credit - especially in a bestselling cookbook.' Bake With Brooki is a bestselling cookbook published by Penguin in October last year and retails for $49.99. Brooke quickly became a global sensation after sharing videos on TikTok, which receive millions of views each day. She is best known for her cookies and has opened pop-up stores in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Both Penguin and Brooke deny the allegations.
