Aid group: People in Gaza will die of hunger if food deliveries do not resume
The head of an aid group in the Gaza Strip has warned that people in the enclave will die of hunger, if food is not permitted to be delivered to the territory again. Israel has not allowed relief supplies to be brought into Gaza since March. It says the move is meant to prevent Hamas from taking the deliveries. On Friday, a crew from NHK's Gaza office was on hand as the aid group distributed food to people in Khan Younis, which is located in southern Gaza. Hundreds of residents flocked to the distribution site, where the group cooked about 20 large pots of rice. They held out containers and pleaded for food. The group soon ran out of the prepared rice. Children then used their hands to scrape off bits of leftover rice in the pots. The group said it was only able to provide around 100 people with food on that day. A woman who was unable to get any of the food said she had no idea what she was going to do. She said her children were crying and asking for food at home. The leader of the group said it will have to close the food distribution site within days. The leader added that people may start collapsing in the streets and in their homes, as the markets do not have any goods. The leader called for a humanitarian corridor to be set up immediately, so that food supplies can be brought into Gaza. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Palestinian Territory posted a message on social media on Thursday. It said, "One in every three UN-supported kitchens in Gaza has shut down over 10 days, as food and fuel run out." It also quoted UNICEF as saying that "children face a growing risk of starvation, illness and death."

The EU will hold talks later this month on reviewing ties with Israel as concern mounts over Gaza
BRUSSELS — European Union foreign ministers will hold formal discussions later this month on a demand to review an EU pact governing trade ties with Israel over its conduct of the war in Gaza, the bloc's top diplomat said Thursday. Israel's ongoing blockade of humanitarian assistance for Gaza forced a leading aid group to shut its community soup kitchens Thursday as it faced empty warehouses and no replenishment of supplies in the war-battered enclave .
