Former politician and aide to ex-Ukrainian president shot dead in Madrid
A man who served as an aide to a former Ukrainian president has been shot and killed in Madrid, local authorities have said. An unidentified gunman - or gunmen - shot former politician Andriy Portnov outside the gates of an American school in the Pozuelo area of the Spanish capital on Wednesday morning, according to a source close to the investigation. Police received a report at 7.15am local time and rushed to the scene. Mr Andriy is believed to have been taking his children to school. Paris urges Israel to resume aid access to Gaza 'immediately, extensively, and without obstacles'
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot called on Israel to allow the immediate, large-scale, and unimpeded resumption of humanitarian aid access to Gaza, following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's announcement that he would permit the entry of a 'basic quantity' of food aid into the territory. In a post on X, Barrot wrote: 'After three months of diplomatic efforts, the Israeli government has finally announced the reopening of access for humanitarian aid to Gaza.' He stressed that this must be done 'immediately, extensively, and without obstacles.' AFP
