Israeli media reports 4 soldiers killed, 17 injured in Khan Yunis ambush
Israeli media reported on Tuesday that four soldiers were killed and 17 were injured in an ambush in Khan Yunis, some of whom were in critical condition. The Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas movement, published footage on Tuesday of an operation targeting Israeli soldiers and vehicles in the city of Khan Yunis, southern Gaza Strip. The Qassam Brigades said that the attack was part of the 'Stones of David' operations it launched against the occupation forces present in Gaza Strip recently. The footage showed the targeting of an Israeli soldier in al-Sanati area of Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Yunis, on June 16, according to an Al Jazeera report. The operation was carried out in cooperation with al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad movement, and resulted in the death of an Israeli sergeant in the engineering corps, the al-Qassam Brigades stated. The footage also included another attack that took place in the same location on June 11, which resulted in two soldiers being moderately wounded, the al-Qassam Brigades announced. In that operation, the sniper targeted four soldiers standing on the balcony of a destroyed house, and Israeli helicopters were seen evacuating the wounded from the scene. The video also showed an attack on an armored personnel carrier in the same area, in cooperation with the al-Quds Brigades. A fighter emerged from directly beneath the vehicle and detonated an explosive device, killing and wounding a number of soldiers. The operation also involved targeting a building where 11 Israeli soldiers were holed up on June 15 in al-Qudayhat area of Abasan al-Kabira. The video broadcast by the Brigades stated, "During a unique operation, our fighters were able - on Friday morning (May 9, 2025), for the first time in the history of the Palestinian-Zionist conflict, to down a strategic "Super Heron" drone equipped with appropriate firepower."
