Amazon's 'small but mighty' €24 gadget is a godsend for insomnia sufferers
A white noise machine that has been reduced in prize on Amazon is proving popular with people who need help nodding off at night and for parents trying to get their kids to sleep. The LazyNight White Noise machine, which was originally priced at just under €37, is now down to just under €24 (price accurate at the time of writing). The white noise machine must be plugged in to use and provides 30 different soothing sounds, including white noise, pink noise and brown noise, reports The Liverpool Echo. It also comes with 12 kinds of colours to choose from to create a 'comfortable and relaxing environment', as well as 10 levels of night light and 36 levels of adjustable volume control, allowing the user multiple options to find what suits them or their children best. It's described as being 'loud enough to help you block out outside noise' and 'perfect for improving sleep quality and fighting snoring'. On the Amazon website, shoppers have given the product a 4.5 out of 5 rating from over 300 reviews. Elsewhere, for shoppers that want a gadget for baby use only, Currys is selling this MOMCOZY Smart Baby Sound Machine for €54.99, while Munchkin's Portable White Noise Sound Machine, available for €26.99 on comes with three soothing sounds and a 4-star rating. Back in the Amazon reviews for the LazyNight White Noise machine, one customer said: "I use this to help sleep since I work night shift and I couldn't be happier with the investment. For the price, this is a solid little sound machine. It is small but mighty. I love the night light function and light color/brightness options. I also love that how when you turn it on and off, the color, sound and volume level stay the same. "So if you're a creature of habit like I am and you like to have a certain sound and volume while sleeping, it's nice to be able to just turn it on and it be exactly where you want it to be from the last time you turned it on. My only critique is very petty but I wish the brightness level went down just one more level. Other than that, this has actually really improved my quality of sleep." A second shopper said: "This thing has seriously helped me to sleep and boasts enough sounds to keep variety in the process. The night light is fully adjustable and can be changed to many colours and it is a easy device to use. Sound volume is fully adjustable and all the functions work as intended. Great value for money." A third fan said: "My kids love it. It's the perfect size. Works well. Sound quality is amazing. Each night they can choose a different color or sound to listen too. Definitely worth the money." However, one negative reviewer said they were 'disappointed' with a sound they described as 'tinny, high-pitched and rushed-sounding'. "Most sounds are not really useful for resting or sleeping to. The so-called brown noise sounds are too thin and tinny, high-pitched and rushed sounding - when compared to YouTube brown noise sounds - which are warm, soothing and slow - and do not cover the external sounds." Amazon Prime Day alert as shoppers warned of scam emails ahead of major sale

More info Amazon shoppers are bracing themselves for a big week ahead as the online retail behemoth is set to launch another of its massive Prime Day sale events. Starting from tomorrow, July 8, customers can expect a deluge of discounts across a range of categories including beauty, food, tech and more. However, Amazon users are being urged to stay vigilant. To avail of these deals, you'll need a Prime account and Amazon is cautioning all subscribers of this premium service to be on high alert. The company has recently dispatched emails in response to a significant surge in Prime scams that could leave users seriously out of pocket, reports the Irish Mirror. "We've recently noticed an increase in customers reporting fake emails about Amazon Prime membership subscriptions," confirmed Amazon. "We want to help you stay protected by sharing important information about these scams." If you're a Prime member and receive a message in your inbox, it's crucial to take a moment to verify it. One particularly alarming scam currently circulating suggests that Prime accounts need to be renewed, with users then being asked to pay more. Scammers have disseminated the counterfeit email in the hope that customers will be so irked by the Prime price hike they click the "cancel" button embedded within the message. "Do not click on any links in these messages," Amazon cautioned. "Scammers use fake websites to steal your Amazon login credentials and banking information." If you get a dodgy message about changes to your Prime account, don't panic – just log on to or the app and check out the "Prime" section. It's easy to see your membership status, renewal dates, and plan details there. Keep an eye on your bank statements for any weird charges and give your bank a shout straight away if you spot any transactions you didn't authorise. Amazon's top advice is to always jump onto their site directly through the mobile app or by typing into your web browser. Amazon always sends a copy of any emails to your Message Centre in your account, so you can double-check the legit ones there under "Your Account". Apple fans rush for €65 off AirPods Pro 2 as Amazon Prime Day kicks off
Amazon's Prime Week is here - and for Apple fans wanting to snap up a deal, the AirPods Pro 2 are up for grabs for a bargain price. But shoppers might want to be quick. Yes, one of the most popular Apple earbuds are currently on offer for €199 on - €66.37 cheaper than their regular price of €265.37 - a deal exclusively available to Prime members. As one of the biggest shopping weeks gets underway, Amazon users can avail of an 11 per cent discount compared to the lowest price in the last 30 days. The Apple AirPods Pro 2 are the best-in-class noise-cancelling earbuds on the market - perfect for busy commutes, travelling, or just zoning out all the background noise, reports The Mirror. The Pro 2s also have the new H2 chip, which helps to create deeply immersive sound. The low-distortion, custom-built driver delivers crisp, clear high notes and full, rich bass in stunning definition. Voice Isolation improves the quality of phone calls in loud conditions. It also cuts out more background noise to protect your hearing. The AirPods can even be used to check your hearing, following a free update introduced in February this year. The Hearing Aid feature includes a clinically-validated hearing test and a hearing profile that applies to all the music and podcasts you listen to. But there are plenty of alternatives on the market to choose from, both discounted in Amazon's biggest sale of the year and elsewhere. The JBL Tune Beam Wireless Bluetooth Noise-Cancelling Earbuds in black are available at Currys for €59.99 and provide noise cancelling at a much cheaper price as well as 12 hours of battery life. Meanwhile, on Amazon, Soundcore by Anker P20i wireless earbuds are available for under €20 for Prime members, having been reduced to just €18.90. The budget model has an average of 4.4 stars out of 5 from more than 65,000 reviews. But for shoppers with their heart set on an Apple bargain, there's also the AirPods 4, which are currently €129 on Amazon - Apple's cheaper but more recently updated earbuds - although they have no noise cancellation built-in. Our tech reviewers over at the Daily Express reviewed the Apple AirPods Pro 2 when they were released - and they got the top score thanks to the amazing sound and noise cancellation. Tech editor Dave Snelling said: "AirPods Pro 2 arrive with superior noise cancellation, better sound quality, longer battery life, and a new way to find them when they (inevitably) disappear down the side of your sofa. Apple has also added the ability to control volume from the stem of each AirPod, which saves you the hassle of reaching for your iPhone when you want to pump the bass. "Elsewhere, AirPods Pro 2 – also known as "2nd Generation" – can be recharged using an Apple Watch charger (as well as Lightning cable, and standard Qi wireless charging) and can be used with a lanyard loop to attach to your belongings. "We've been wearing the new AirPods Pro 2 on our daily commute, and they sound very impressive. Sound is rich, plus the improved Active Noise-Cancellation (ANC) cuts out almost all annoying background noise, so you won't have to have your favourite album, audiobook or podcast cranked up to 11 to hear it on the train. We were already huge fans of the original AirPods Pro, and this latest refresh only makes things better." However, one of his biggest problems was the price of the earbuds and, while the €199 price for Prime Day provides a solid discount on the usual price, for many they remain a big investment. He added at the time: "At £249 (€289), Apple's wireless 'buds are ludicrously expensive and it's a shame Apple still refuses to introduce some much-needed colour – AirPods Pro are only available in plain white. Unlike some other wireless earbuds, there's no EQ in the settings so you won't be able to adjust the audio to suit your tastes."
