Minister pushes for completion of four fishing harbours to boost coastal infrastructure and livelihoods
Minister for Roads & Buildings, Investments, and Infrastructure B.C. Janardhan Reddy has directed officials to expedite the completion of four fishing harbours being developed under Phase-1.
Chairing the 19th board meeting of the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Infrastructure Development Corporation (APMIDC) at the Secretariat on Monday, the Minister reviewed the progress of harbours at Juvvaladinne, Nizampatnam, Machilipatnam, and Uppada. He emphasised the need for swift completion to strengthen coastal infrastructure and support the livelihoods of local fishing communities.
Mr. Janardhan Reddy also instructed officials to obtain administrative approvals from the Fisheries Department for three new harbours proposed under Phase-2 — at Pudimadaka, Budagatlapalem, and Kothapatnam — as per the revised estimates. He directed that construction works begin without delay once approvals are in place.
