James Gunn's upcoming Superman film is already soaring ahead of its release, with early ticket sales breaking records. Special Amazon Prime screenings of the movie have set a new benchmark for the highest number of first-day ticket sales in 2025, surpassing all other films released so far this year. Amazon Prime members were given exclusive early access to purchase tickets starting June 10 for special previews scheduled on July 8, three days ahead of the film's official release on July 11. The overwhelming demand reflects the strong anticipation surrounding Gunn's fresh take on the iconic Man of Steel.
According to reports, the film's early sales have outpaced those of other major 2025 releases, including Marvel's Fantastic Four: First Steps.
According to Deadline, the upcoming superhero movie by Warner Bros and DC Studios is one of the most anticipated films of the summer. This was revealed in Fandango's 2025 Moviegoing Trends and Insight Study, where the company asked over 5000 people about their movie plans. Many fans also said they are especially excited to see Nicholas Hoult play Lex Luthor.
Reportedly, Superman, featuring David Corenswet, might collect over $100 million in its first weekend at the box office. If that happens, it would be a strong start and a big win for the film even before reviews come in.
Fans of Marvel and DC have been comparing Superman and Fantastic Four, as both movies are set to release during the same month. Many have been wondering which one will do better at the box office. But director James Gunn doesn't see it as a competition. He said there's enough room for both films to do well.
