The overwhelming demand reflects the strong anticipation surrounding James Gunn's fresh take on the iconic Man of Steel.
James Gunn's upcoming Superman film is already soaring ahead of its release, with early ticket sales breaking records. Special Amazon Prime screenings of the movie have set a new benchmark for the highest number of first-day ticket sales in 2025, surpassing all other films released so far this year. Amazon Prime members were given exclusive early access to purchase tickets starting June 10 for special previews scheduled on July 8, three days ahead of the film's official release on July 11. The overwhelming demand reflects the strong anticipation surrounding Gunn's fresh take on the iconic Man of Steel.
According to reports, the film's early sales have outpaced those of other major 2025 releases, including Marvel's Fantastic Four: First Steps.
According to Deadline, the upcoming superhero movie by Warner Bros and DC Studios is one of the most anticipated films of the summer. This was revealed in Fandango's 2025 Moviegoing Trends and Insight Study, where the company asked over 5000 people about their movie plans. Many fans also said they are especially excited to see Nicholas Hoult play Lex Luthor.
Reportedly, Superman, featuring David Corenswet, might collect over $100 million in its first weekend at the box office. If that happens, it would be a strong start and a big win for the film even before reviews come in.
Fans of Marvel and DC have been comparing Superman and Fantastic Four, as both movies are set to release during the same month. Many have been wondering which one will do better at the box office. But director James Gunn doesn't see it as a competition. He said there's enough room for both films to do well.
Recently, when a fan asked about the competition on Threads, Gunn replied, 'They come out two weeks after us, there's room for us both. I love my friends at Marvel. You can find whatever discussions you'd want to find online. I'd focus on all the positivity around the films instead of getting sucked up in online fan wars."
Suprman stars David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, María Gabriela de Faría, Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, Pruitt Taylor Vince and Neva Howell.

Kim Cattrall reveals why she initially turned down 'Sex and the City' role

Kim Cattrall , the actress behind the iconic character Samantha Jones in HBO's ' Sex and the City ,' recently opened up about her initial hesitation to take on the role. As per Deadline, in a candid conversation, Cattrall shared that she turned down the part not once, not twice, but four times before finally agreeing to join the show. Her reason? "Self-inflicted ageism," stemming from her concerns about playing a sexually confident character at the age of 41. Cattrall explained that her mindset shifted over time, and she eventually came to realise that 40 could indeed be "alluring". "Well, that changed. 40 became sexy. It became, 'Man, let's have more of that,'" she said, reflecting on her decision to join the show, as quoted by Deadline. Cattrall's portrayal of Samantha Jones , a character known for her unapologetic attitude toward sex and relationships, became a defining role in her career. Cattrall described Samantha as a woman who enjoyed life on her own terms, and said, "She wasn't a nymphomaniac, well, some people might have thought she was, but she was just enjoying the main course. Everyone else was nibbling on the appetisers when she was going for the steak. And it was always on her terms, that I always insisted on." Kim Kardashian on why she's shutting down KKW Fragrance Despite the character's bold personality, Cattrall noted that she is the antithesis of Samantha in many ways, identifying herself as a "serial monogamist." Cattrall expressed her gratitude for having played Samantha Jones, and said, "I created a fantastic character that I loved, and I put a lot of love in it. And if I'm remembered only for that, then that's really OK." The show, which aired from 1998 to 2004, has had a lasting impact on popular culture, inspiring numerous spin-offs, including 'The Carrie Diaries' and 'And Just Like That...,' the latter of which premiered on HBO Max in 2021. Although Cattrall chose not to reunite with her co-stars in 'And Just Like That...,' she did make a special appearance in the season 2 finale, reprising her role as Samantha Jones.

James Gunn breaks down death rules in the DCU and when the Lazarus Pit might be used: 'I won't be killing major characters just to...'

With the first season of 'Creature Commandos' now available to watch, 'Superman' (starring David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Nicholas Hoult) releasing this July, and Season 2 of 'Peacemaker' launching in August, James Gunn and Peter Safran's DCU is starting to take shape. As the universe expands, fans have grown more curious about its core concepts, beliefs, and how closely it will follow comic book traditions. 'In the DCU, if you die, you're dead' Over on Threads, a fan joked, 'no one stays dead forever' and asked whether Princess Ilana Rostovic was really dead or if she might return for 'Creature Commandos' Season 2. Gunn gave a firm reply: "In the DCU if you die, you're dead," not leaving much room for misinterpretation. A fan raises the Lazarus Pit question Another fan joined the conversation, saying, 'As someone who loves the no-resurrections rule, I do wonder, doesn't it limit you from using established elements of DC comics lore like the Lazarus Pit?" Gunn responded, clarifying that while he's not completely against resurrection as an idea, it has to be done with purpose. 'I wouldn't mind using the Lazarus Pit (and/or resurrection) in a story. But it would have to be a part of the story itself. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like What She Did Mid-Air Left Passengers Speechless medalmerit Learn More Undo I won't be killing major characters just to pop them in the old LP to be alive again." Lazarus Pit: powerful but not to be overused In the comics, Lazarus Pits are powerful pools that can heal wounds, resurrect the dead, and even offer near immortality. But Gunn made it clear that he thinks this plot device should be used very sparingly. He explained, "What backfires more is people believing there are no stakes and death doesn't mean anything. Dead is dead." High stakes in the new DCU Gunn's message is loud and clear — in his DCU, death has weight. With the exception of major storylines like Jason Todd's, where the Lazarus Pit plays a crucial role, Gunn has no interest in casually bringing characters back to life. If resurrection is used, it will likely be central to the storyline, not just a quick fix. This approach aims to keep the stakes high and the stories meaningful, giving fans a more grounded and emotionally engaging DC Universe.
