German Shepherd's Precious ‘Post-Nap Bedhead' Has Everyone in Stitches
German Shepherd's Precious 'Post-Nap Bedhead' Has Everyone in Stitches originally appeared on Parade Pets. Naps are a massive part of every dog's life, it's just a fact. They need several naps a day, and if they don't get them, they'll be very grumpy. As I type this, my dog is napping in my lap. I'm using her as a desk, which she luckily doesn't mind too much. On Thursday, July 3rd, one sweet German Shepherd woke up with the funniest bedhead. Just by looking at him, you can tell that this nap was one for the books. It looks like he hardly remembers what planet he's on: Hiro the German Shepherd is just too cute for his own good. That bedhead is the sweetest thing anyone will see all day!Hiro is about 4 years old, though he's still a puppy at heart. He never grew out of that puppy-like playfulness (most German Shepherds don't), but he did grow into being a very handsome boy. He is so perfect: he's gentle, kind, and very, very snuggly. One of his favorite things to do is nap. He lives to take good naps, and if there's one thing everyone knows about napping, it's that waking up with your hair all wonky and sheet creases in your arms means it was truly a top tier napping experience. The way Hiro's fur is looking, he had the nap of his lifetime! He gives absolutely everything his all, and he always has. It takes a lot out of him! I mean, just look at how much effort it takes for him to have a simple pup cup: German Shepherds are a lot. They spend a lot of time awake, and the time they do spend awake, they're spending playing. They need a lot of exercise, a lot of time, and a lot of energy poured into them. After a good day of exercise, though, they will totally crash! And crash he did! Nice bedhead, Hiro! 🐶🐾🐾 German Shepherd's Precious 'Post-Nap Bedhead' Has Everyone in Stitches first appeared on Parade Pets on Jul 5, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade Pets on Jul 5, 2025, where it first appeared.

Chisago County deputies wrangle loose emus that escaped home during weekend storms
Outside Tom Halek's Rush City, Minnesota, home, live dozens and dozens of his animal friends. "We've got goats, we've got peacocks, we've got ducks, chickens," said Halek. "I've always been an animal lover." That love expanded last winter, when Halek bought two emus: Sami and Ali, both purchased from Wisconsin over Craigslist. A few nights ago, the speedy and crafty birds escaped their pen after their gate was left partially open during weekend storms. "I figured the way they can move, who knows where they'd end up," said Halek. The following morning: an emu sighting, miles from home. It became a popular post on the Chisago County Sheriff's Office Facebook page. Halek learned he wasn't the only emu owner in the area. "The sheriff called us back and said, 'We know where they're at.'" Halek said. "Somebody else in the area that owns emus also thought they were his, so he ran and he captured them, brought them home and he realized 'Wait a minute, these aren't mine.'" Sami and Ali were soon wrangled by sheriff's deputies. They're a little spooked, but doing fine, Halek said. It's a wild tale with a happy ending. "Really happy, love them dearly," said Halek.

Cockatoo Hops with Excitement Watching Neighborhood Kids Play and It's Too Cute
Cockatoo Hops with Excitement Watching Neighborhood Kids Play and It's Too Cute originally appeared on Parade Pets. There's nothing worse than not being able to join friends and family for a good time. Whether you're out of town, have a previous engagement, or are just feeling a bit under the weather, no one wants to miss out! But sometimes — like a fish out of water or a deer in the headlights — our animal friends don't know their limitations, and despite a proverbial FOMO (fear of missing out), have to make lemonade out of lemons. Such is the case for poor Furby the Cockatoo, who, while being right next door, can't join the fun at the neighbor's pool party on the other side of the fence! In a video uploaded to TikTok by @furbythebirb, we get to see this Cockatoo try to keep an eye on all the neighborhood happenings. Take a look! 'Furby watches the children playing in their pool,' his pet parent said in a super-cute clip, and as any fun-loving bird does, delights in watching the fun outside! Surely this good boy should be able to join the party, right? Wrong. 🐶🐾🐾 You see, Cockatoos can't swim, at least not the way ducks or other waterbirds can. They're not adapted for it — no webbed feet, no waterproof feathers, and no natural swimming abilities. That said, Cockatoos can enjoy waterplay in other ways. For example, many love bathing in shallow dishes or under a gentle mist. 'Would he like his own little pool?' asked a TikTok fan. 'How dare they not invite him,' scoffed worry about a possible invitation oversight by the neighborhood kids. Furby still manages to have an amazing time as the children play. 'Furby is getting some exercise in while watching the kids outside,' a fan noted. He sure is! Look at those legs kick! It's like Furby is an off-duty Rockette! The way he prances from side to side and bobs his head up and down is just the cutest! Quite often, I'm envious of the energy levels of kids who range from toddlers to teens. Today, I'm wishing I had a pep in my step to match this Cockatoo! His dance moves are pretty intense. This little guy can really move! So much so that his pet mamma needs to warn him about falling off his perch. (Which he inevitably does! Yikes!) After a dance session like this, it's time to relax and maybe ask Furby's mamma to check out the local pet store and find that birdbath.
