Cong manifesto ‘biggest lie of the century': KTR

Hyderabad: Stating that development in Telangana came to a standstill after the Congress assumed power in 2023, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said that BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao should once again become chief minister to revive the state's progress. He also criticised the Congress govt for failing to fulfil its promises and described CM A Revanth Reddy as anti-Dalit and anti-Adivasi. Addressing a Dalit Maha Sabha meeting in Kamareddy on Friday, the BRS working president accused the Congress party of deceiving the public with its manifesto promises during the assembly elections, calling the manifesto "the biggest lie of the century". He claimed that all sections of society in the state were misled and betrayed. He further alleged that the Congress had failed to implement the Chevella SC-ST Declaration. "The Congress party promised to increase the Dalit Bandhu scheme to 12 lakh from 10 lakh. It also pledged to allocate 26% of govt contracts to SCs and STs, and to provide 6 lakh to Dalits and STs for house construction on their own land. None of these promises have been fulfilled," KTR said. KTR also criticised CM Revanth Reddy for his inability to generate revenue and for failing to ensure the provision of hygienic food and potable water to students in govt residential welfare institutions. During the event, KTR felicitated a man named Sailu from Lingampet, who was allegedly humiliated at the Ambedkar statue on April 14. MSID:: 122907245 413 |

'Objectionable': BJP slams Kharge for remarks on President Murmu, predecessor Kovind

The BJP on Tuesday targeted its guns at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, slamming his recent remarks on President Droupadi Murmu and her predecessor Ram Nath Kovind as "objectionable" and demanding his apology for the same. Kharge, while speaking at a public rally in Chhattisgarh's Raipur on Monday, had mispronounced the names of President Murmu and her predecessor Kovind but quickly corrected himself. "The BJP always speaks about making (Droupadi) Murmu ji and (Ram Nath) Kovind ji presidents of the country but did the party do all this to snatch our assets, forests, water and land," the Congress President said. Slamming his remarks as "objectionable" BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia alleged the Congress president's statements reflect the party's "anti-Dalit, anti-Adivasi and anti-Constitution" mindset. "You (Kharge) talk big - you called Ram Nath Kovind ji 'covid'...You call 'Murma ji' and then called her (President Droupadi Murmu) a land mafia, alleging that she has become President to snatch away assets, forests," he charged. Bhatia demanded that Kharge apologise for making "distasteful and derogatory" remarks against Murmu and Kovind, alleging the Congress president did not only insult them but also hurt the sentiments of Adivasi and Dalit community members with his comments. He also demanded a public apology from the Congress for Kharge's remarks and asked the Congress workers to make him resign from the post of party president . "If the Congress and Mallikarjun Kharge do not apologise, you will see every citizen (of the country) expressing their anger. This mistake will cost Congress dearly," Bhatia said.

BJP demands apology from Mallikarjun Kharge for ‘objectionable' remarks against President Droupadi Murmu and Ramnath Kovind; Congress defends statement

NEW DELHI: The BJP on Tuesday accused Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge of insulting President Droupadi Murmu and former President Ram Nath Kovind by using what it termed 'objectionable' and 'derogatory' language, and demanded a public apology from both Kharge and the Congress party. The controversy stems from Kharge's remarks at a public rally in Raipur on Monday, where he raised concerns over forest land issues and questioned the BJP's motives behind the appointment of tribal and Dalit Presidents. 'They just talk big; we made Murma ji President of India, we made (Ram Nath) Kovind President. Yes, you did, but for what? To snatch our property? To snatch our jungles? To stop our water? They have done this to snatch our land,' Kharge had said. While he reportedly mispronounced the names of both President Murmu and her predecessor Kovind during his speech, he quickly corrected himself. However, the BJP has seized upon the remarks, alleging deliberate disrespect to India's top constitutional officeholders. Addressing a press conference in Delhi, BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said, 'You (Kharge) talk big — you called Ram Nath Kovind ji 'covid'... by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 무너진 피부, 30대 넘으면 리프팅말고 이것부터 해보세요 RD연구원맘 Undo You call 'Murma ji' and then called her (President Droupadi Murmu) a land mafia, alleging that she has become President to snatch away assets, forests.' Bhatia further claimed the remarks exposed the 'anti-Dalit, anti-Adivasi and anti-Constitution mindset' of the Congress party. 'If the Congress and Mallikarjun Kharge do not apologise, you will see every citizen expressing their anger. This mistake will cost Congress dearly,' he warned, demanding a written apology and Kharge's resignation. BJP also linked Kharge's comments to past controversies involving Congress leaders. 'Udit Raj said that no country should get a President like Droupadi Murmu... Adhir Chowdhury addressed the President as 'Rashtrapatni'... Ajoy Kumar said President Murmu reflects an evil mindset,' Bhatia noted, arguing that Kharge's latest comment was not a slip of tongue, but part of a 'pattern.' Echoing the criticism, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said, 'The comment made by Kharge ji calling President Droupadi Murmu as Murma Ji, Kovind ji as Kovid ji, then saying that they are land grabbers, reflects the deep-seated hatred Congress has for the SC and ST community. This is the kind of tradition Congress has shown towards constitutional positions.' Congress, meanwhile, defended its president. Party leader Pawan Khera said, 'What Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has said is right, you cannot continue to exploit tribals. Whenever we question, you start showing that the President of India is a tribal. You cannot hide the misdoings against the tribals by just showing the President of India. This is the mentality you have when you deal with tribals, Dalits and minorities. '
