Legal group launches appellate practice to counter Trump
A nonprofit legal group waging battles against the Trump administration is launching a new appellate practice as the organization gears up for protracted court fights.
Democracy Forward, which is involved in a host of lawsuits challenging the Trump administration, announced the new appellate practice Monday as the group said it plans to continue expanding its litigation team.
'The courts remain a frontline in the work to ensure the American people's rights are protected and that when the Trump-Vance administration abuses its power, it is held accountable,' said Skye Perryman, Democracy Forward's president and CEO, in a statement. With the courts set to make consequential decisions, Democracy Forward is 'incredibly pleased to be building important appellate capacity with a first-in-class team,' she said.

The group expects that its appellate practice will include more than a dozen 'seasoned litigators with appellate and Supreme Court expertise,' Democracy Forward announced, adding to the organization's roster of more than 65 attorneys.
