Police shut down streets in Bridgeman Downs, Brisbane after reports of ‘armed man' in home
Police have swarmed a home and shut down streets in Brisbane's north, following reports of an armed man. An emergency declaration was made in Bridgeman Downs at about 7.15am on Tuesday, after police received reports an armed man was inside a home. An exclusion zone was established around Trouts, Albany Creek, Beckett, and Hamilton Rds, with residents within the zone urged to stay indoors. Other members of the public and motorists were advised to avoid the area. At about 9am, an unarmed man wearing a plain black T-shirt was escorted down the driveway of a Bungalow St home by two police officers. There have been no reports of injuries or shots fired during the incident. Ross Walmsley, a local resident whose street was swarmed by police - including heavily armed PSRT officers - told the Courier Mail the area was 'all blocked off'. 'So you just have to wait it out for a little while … I hope no one gets hurt,' he said. 'Apparently there's an armed man … so I guess they got to do what they got to do.' The PSPA has since been revoked, and the man was taken into custody without further incident. No charges have been laid.

36-hour standoff with heavily armed suspect continues in Fredonia
Residents are still advised to stay away from or stay in their homes due to a "tactical situation" at the Village of Fredonia on Fox Glen Road. A man at his residence is considered extremely dangerous as he is heavily armed with firearms, according to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office. Attempts to de-escalate the situation with the suspect "continued through the night and were unsuccessful," the sheriff's office wrote in a Facebook post at 6:20 a.m. on May 10. According to the sheriff's office, the subject has continued to threaten to kill officers if they enter his home. "Safety remains the top priority, and we will continue to be patient until we can safely end the situation," the sheriff's office wrote. This situation has been ongoing since the evening of May 8, when authorities received a report from a resident on Fox Glen Road in Fredonia of multiple gunshots throughout the day. Other residents made similar calls, according to authorities. At around 10:30 p.m. on May 8, the homeowner was reached by phone and acknowledged playing loud music and firing weapons from the residence, authorities said. According to the sheriff's office, the suspect said he was going to continue playing music and "if anyone came to his residence, he would shoot them." Shortly after the phone conversation, deputies on the scene heard multiple gunshots coming from his residence. The sheriff's office said the suspect was discharging several firearms in unknown directions, including an automatic rifle. The suspect remained uncooperative and made explicit threats toward law enforcement stating "he'd go full auto" and would "kill anyone who approached," according to the sheriff's office. On multiple occasions, the suspect was observed aiming a rifle in the direction of law enforcement armored vehicles stationed on the scene. The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office said it is being assisted by numerous law enforcement agencies, including the Washington County Sheriff's Office SWAT, Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office SWAT, Port Washington Police Department, Saukville Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, and others. This is an ongoing investigation, authorities said. Cathy Kozlowicz can be reached at 262-361-9132 or Follow her on X at @kozlowicz_cathy.
