36-hour standoff with heavily armed suspect continues in Fredonia
Residents are still advised to stay away from or stay in their homes due to a "tactical situation" at the Village of Fredonia on Fox Glen Road. A man at his residence is considered extremely dangerous as he is heavily armed with firearms, according to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office.
Attempts to de-escalate the situation with the suspect "continued through the night and were unsuccessful," the sheriff's office wrote in a Facebook post at 6:20 a.m. on May 10.
According to the sheriff's office, the subject has continued to threaten to kill officers if they enter his home.
"Safety remains the top priority, and we will continue to be patient until we can safely end the situation," the sheriff's office wrote.
This situation has been ongoing since the evening of May 8, when authorities received a report from a resident on Fox Glen Road in Fredonia of multiple gunshots throughout the day. Other residents made similar calls, according to authorities.
At around 10:30 p.m. on May 8, the homeowner was reached by phone and acknowledged playing loud music and firing weapons from the residence, authorities said.
According to the sheriff's office, the suspect said he was going to continue playing music and "if anyone came to his residence, he would shoot them." Shortly after the phone conversation, deputies on the scene heard multiple gunshots coming from his residence.
The sheriff's office said the suspect was discharging several firearms in unknown directions, including an automatic rifle. The suspect remained uncooperative and made explicit threats toward law enforcement stating "he'd go full auto" and would "kill anyone who approached," according to the sheriff's office.
On multiple occasions, the suspect was observed aiming a rifle in the direction of law enforcement armored vehicles stationed on the scene.
The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office said it is being assisted by numerous law enforcement agencies, including the Washington County Sheriff's Office SWAT, Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office SWAT, Port Washington Police Department, Saukville Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, and others.
This is an ongoing investigation, authorities said.

West Wildwood police getting help from neighboring New Jersey departments amid staff shortage
Multiple South Jersey police departments are providing support services to West Wildwood as the town deals with a staffing shortage among its own force. Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland said he asked the Wildwood, North Wildwood and Wildwood Crest departments to "provide necessary manpower and resources" to keep police services in West Wildwood running, and that all agreed to help. "Their commitment to public service and regional cooperation is a reflection of the strong law enforcement community we have in Cape May County," Sutherland said in a statement. The temporary measure comes after West Wildwood made significant staffing changes to its police force back in January. Since then, the department became the subject of a review by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police. In a report published earlier this month, the NJSACOP said there is "a complete lack of leadership" in the Borough of West Wildwood Police Department, the force's Internal Affairs is "essentially non-existent," training is lacking among officers and high police officer turnover is contributing to the agency's instability. The report made several recommendations about how the borough could move forward. One option would see West Wildwood invest in recruitment and retention to maintain an independent force. Other options include: Entering into a shared service agreement where West Wildwood shares a police chief with another municipality Entering a shared service agreement with another town to supply partial police services at night Disbanding the West Wildwood Police Department and entering into a contract with another jurisdiction The NJSACOP said it recommends disbanding the force altogether. "Our review demonstrates that geographically and financially this would be the best option. We also believe it would provide uninterrupted services to the Borough and its residents," the report said. "NJSACOP also believes it will provide a better service due to officer availability and enhanced patrol and investigative resources." According to the report, the 2020 Census counted approximately 540 residents in West Wildwood, though the population swells to about 5,000 during the summer season. As recently as April 28, 2025, the town's police department had just four full-time officers and one Special Law Enforcement Class II officer on its staff. In January, the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office assigned Detective Mark Weeks to temporarily oversee the day-to-day operations of the department prior to the departure of Chief Jacquelyn Ferentz.

Suspect in custody after threats made against law enforcement, Rockwood police say
A suspect was taken into custody after threats were made against law enforcement, the Rockwood (Michigan) Police Department reported. The arrest was made without incident about 9 p.m. Wednesday with officers from Rockwood police working with Monroe County Sheriff's Office. The person's name was not released, pending court arraignment. Details of the incident were not disclosed, but police said it involved "credible threats." "All information will be reviewed by the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office for determination of what charges the individual will face," the report from police chief Randolph Krause said. "The arrest was made possible through the dedication and solid investigation of our detective bureau and the cooperation of our local and federal partners. I would like to thank the Monroe County Sheriff's Department, the United States Border Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for their assistance in this matter." The city of Rockwood is in Wayne County, but the community borders Monroe County. Its police department has been in the news lately because Rockwood police pulled over a car that Maykol Bogoya-Duarte was traveling in on May 20. Bogoya-Duarte, who was a high school student in Detroit, was subsequently arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol and is expected to be deported.

These rules govern the use of force by military personnel during missions to support law enforcement inside the US. Northern Command notes the forces themselves 'do not conduct civilian law enforcement functions.' The video, provided by non-profit news organization CalMatters, showed police confronting protesters in and around Koreatown, about 3 miles from the curfew zone that went into effect at 8 p.m. Pacific Time. It showed officers walking toward a group of protesters, taking hold of one person and escorting them away with their hands held behind their back. In another video, several officers are seen running toward a different group, shouting: 'Get back, get back!' as they detain another individual. Earlier on Wednesday night, a CNN reporter on the ground witnessed protesters driving through an area where the curfew does not apply — heading in the direction of Koreatown. Videos shot by CNN show a line of cars honking loudly, with some passengers leaning out the window or standing upright on truck beds waving Mexican and American flags. In both LA and Spokane, Washington, city authorities imposed curfews on Wednesday night. In many other cities, police departments worked to disperse protesters long after night fell. The curfew in parts of downtown LA lasts from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Pacific Time. But the curfew is only in place for a very small strip of the city, measuring about 1 square mile in area. LA Mayor Karen Bass said the curfew could be in effect for several days. Things could pick up on Saturday, when there are 'No Kings' protests and anti-Trump rallies scheduled across the country. The protests, organized by the nonviolent 50501 movement, come on the same day as President Donald Trump's planned military parade through Washington, DC. The name of the protests represents a rejection of the Trump administration's sweeping actions since he took power, which the group describes as authoritarian. 'In America, we don't do kings,' the 50501 movement's website reads. 'The corruption has gone too. far. No thrones. No crowns. No kings.' Here's the latest: Update: Date: 3 hr 12 min ago Title: Trump administration officials dig in on president's decision to deploy military Content: Trump administration officials are doubling down on their defense of President Donald Trump's decision to mobilize National Guard troops and Marines to respond to protests in Los Angeles. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth suggested to lawmakers yesterday that Trump's order on Saturday to federalize the National Guard was also intended to create a precedent so that playbook could be replicated in other states. 'Part of it was about getting ahead of the problem, so that if in other places, if there are other riots, in places where law enforcement officers are threatened, we would have the capability to surge National Guard there, if necessary,' Hegseth said. Hegseth said that 'thankfully, in most of those states, you'd have a governor that recognizes the need for it, supports it and mobilizes it, him or herself. In California, unfortunately, the governor wants to play politics with it.' Attorney General Pam Bondi said Wednesday the Trump administration 'is not scared to go further' in expanding its legal authorities to deploy troops in Los Angeles. 'Right now in California, we're at a good point. We're not scared to go further. We're not frightened to do something else if we need to,' she said when answering questions at the White House from CNN about the threshold for invoking the Insurrection Act, which permits the president to use military forces to end an insurrection or rebellion on US soil.
