MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee police have ended a tactical situation at a residence near 47th and State on Sunday, May 18. They include a 27-year-old woman, a 36-year-old man and a 44-year-old man. What they're saying "It was definitely team work with the tactical unit – you know they train relentlessly I'm sure and you have to trust the person standing beside you and behind you," said Dave Seegert, who lives in the neighborhood. Seegert is grateful the incident ended as it did. 36-hour standoff with heavily armed suspect continues in Fredonia
Residents are still advised to stay away from or stay in their homes due to a "tactical situation" at the Village of Fredonia on Fox Glen Road. A man at his residence is considered extremely dangerous as he is heavily armed with firearms, according to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office. Attempts to de-escalate the situation with the suspect "continued through the night and were unsuccessful," the sheriff's office wrote in a Facebook post at 6:20 a.m. on May 10. According to the sheriff's office, the subject has continued to threaten to kill officers if they enter his home. "Safety remains the top priority, and we will continue to be patient until we can safely end the situation," the sheriff's office wrote. This situation has been ongoing since the evening of May 8, when authorities received a report from a resident on Fox Glen Road in Fredonia of multiple gunshots throughout the day. Other residents made similar calls, according to authorities. At around 10:30 p.m. on May 8, the homeowner was reached by phone and acknowledged playing loud music and firing weapons from the residence, authorities said. According to the sheriff's office, the suspect said he was going to continue playing music and "if anyone came to his residence, he would shoot them." Shortly after the phone conversation, deputies on the scene heard multiple gunshots coming from his residence. The sheriff's office said the suspect was discharging several firearms in unknown directions, including an automatic rifle. The suspect remained uncooperative and made explicit threats toward law enforcement stating "he'd go full auto" and would "kill anyone who approached," according to the sheriff's office. On multiple occasions, the suspect was observed aiming a rifle in the direction of law enforcement armored vehicles stationed on the scene. The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office said it is being assisted by numerous law enforcement agencies, including the Washington County Sheriff's Office SWAT, Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office SWAT, Port Washington Police Department, Saukville Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, and others. What we know According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office, on Thursday, May 8, at about 8:30 p.m., the sheriff's office got a report from a Fredonia resident on Fox Glen Road who heard multiple gunshots throughout the day. Additional calls were received from other residents with similar concerns. Deputies monitored the area and no gunshots were heard. The suspect stated he was going to continue playing music and if anyone came to his residence, he would shoot them. The sheriff's office says the suspect was firing several firearms in unknown directions, including an automatic rifle, posing a significant threat to the safety of the community and law enforcement. Nearby residents were advised to shelter in place, specifically in the basements of their homes. A law enforcement perimeter was set and the Ozaukee County Special Response Team (SRT) was activated and deployed to the scene. Over the course of several hours, negotiators tried to engage the suspect and de-escalate the situation. Despite these efforts, the suspect remained uncooperative and made explicit threats towards law enforcement, stating "he'd go full auto" and kill anyone who approached. The suspect also provided information indicating he was heavily armed and prepared to use force against officers. On multiple occasions, the suspect was seen aiming a rifle in the direction of law enforcement armored vehicles stationed on the scene. Due to the extended length of the tactical incident, Ozaukee County SRT was temporarily relieved at noon on Friday, May 9, by Washington County SWAT and Milwaukee County SWAT. The sheriff's office says safety remains the top priority and officers will continue to be patient until the situation is safely ended. Residents are encouraged to stay away from this area or remain in their homes. Dig deeper Court records show a restraining order was filed against the owner of the home in November and dismissed nearly two weeks later. It explained the man had access to assault rifles. FOX6 News has not confirmed whether that's the same person involved in the tactical situation. Ozaukee County Sheriff responds to 'dangerous subject,' issues shelter in place order
A "tactical situation" is occurring on Fox Glen Road in Fredonia on May 9, and nearby residents are advised to stay in their homes, according to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office. Any outgoing travel will be going north to Martin Avenue Additionally, residents of Edmaro Street may leave the area going south but should "use extreme caution when driving out," the sheriff's office said. The nearby St. John Church and St. John's daycare center are closed May 9 due to the ongoing threat, the sheriff's office said. Authorities turned off power in the neighborhood overnight but restored it at 5:20 a.m. "The situation remains volatile as the subject refuses to cooperate," the sheriff's office said.
