Mane Mane police aims to strengthen community policing, change current system

Mysuru: To maintain peace and order in society, prevent and detect crimes, create a fearless environment, and provide protection and safety to the public, the Karnataka state police department has launched an innovative programme called Mane Mane Police (Police at Every Home). Tired of too many ads? go ad free now It aims to strengthen community policing and transform the current police system into a more public-friendly and active service. Mysuru district police, led by superintendent of police N Vishnuvardhana, on Saturday educated the district police officers at an awareness event at District Armed Reserve Grounds at Jyothinagar. They were informed about the implementation of the Mane Mane Police initiative, which was conceptualised by DG&IGP MA Saleem. Vishnuvardhana explained that the initiative aims to make the neighbourhood safer by improving the police-public relationship. Under the initiative, the beat constables and head constables have to meet the residents in their jurisdiction and create awareness about various crimes, including cybercrimes. Besides, they have to enquire about any unlawful activities in the neighbourhood and seek their opinion to improve safety. Once every month, a meeting of residents has to be conducted to hear their grievances. Additional superintendents of police C Mallik and L Nagesh, along with deputy superintendents of police, police inspectors, and sub-inspectors who attended the meeting, were told to implement it effectively.
