Jefferson Fire responds to 2-alarm barn fire off I-5 near Millersburg

Jefferson Fire District was responding to a two-alarm fire just off Interstate 5 near Millersburg early in the morning of Aug. 4. The fire was reported at about 2:40 a.m. off Century Drive. Jefferson Fire District said the fire was "large" and contained to a hay barn. The fire could be seen from miles away, the fire district said. "The fire is contained to the structure and we are monitoring for any (extension) to surrounding brush and plowed fields," the fire district said in a Facebook post. "We are working with the owner to come up with a plan to manage the fire." Six units remained on scene at about 8:30 a.m., according to PulsePoint. A LARGE barn fire in Dorset carried on into a second day with fire crews working through yesterday's night to bring it under control. Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) were called to the scene on Park Lane, Shapwick, at 11.27pm on Thursday, August 1, following reports of a fire involving a barn. Initial response teams from Wimborne, Blandford and Poole attended the blaze, supported by a water carrier from Poole. Firefighters worked through the night using two main lines and a hose reel jet to prevent the fire from spreading further. It is reported that at 3.00am, the incident was scaled back, with a relief crew from Christchurch taking over. A support vehicle from Ferndown and a lightweight off-road vehicle from Blandford also joined the effort. (Image: Large Barn Fire, Credit: DWFRS) A spokesperson from DWFRS said: 'Firefighters are still currently in attendance and are working hard to extinguish the fire. Local residents have been advised to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke in the area.' Thick smoke from the blaze has been reported in surrounding areas including Sturminster Marshall, Canford Heath, and Corfe Mullen. Authorities have also issued a public health warning due to concerns about possible asbestos-containing materials involved in the fire. Posting on Facebook, DWFRS said: 'Please be aware that the smoke can be seen in areas of Sturminster Marshall and the Corfe Mullen area. 'Local residents are advised to please keep windows and doors closed due to the potential of asbesto-based materials from the building involved.'

A "significant" fire has broken out across a number of large barns at a Fire and Rescue Service said six engines were attending the blaze at Cherry Tree Farm in Metfield, south-east of was alerted at about 01:45 BST on Friday by local residents and said the fire covered an area of approximately 150m by 40m (492ft by 131ft).The barns contained a "substantial quantity" of straw bales, as well as agricultural machinery and a workshop, it said. People have been urged to avoid the area while crews bring the fire under fire service said there was a limited water supply at the farm, so it had brought in a water carrier as well as specialist aerial appliances. London fire crews work to knock down a barn fire caused by a lightning strike on July 7, 2025. (Source: London fire) Lightning is to blame for a barn fire in London in the early morning hours. Crews were called to 4195 Bostwick Road, in the area of Wonderland Road south and Hamlyn Street, around 1 a.m. Using a defensive attack, crews knocked the fire down and contained the damage to the footprint of the building. According to London fire, the walls of the structure were concrete, the roof was metal and did collapse in. Damage is estimated over $200,000. Meanwhile, London Hydro reports nearly 4,000 customers without power in the Bostwick, Lambeth, Sharon Creek, Talbot and Tempo areas. Estimated time of restoration is 7 a.m.
