Awkward moment Dame Helen Mirren horrifies group of actresses by stating that NONE of them are 'beautiful'

She's one of the most acclaimed actresses of all time, boasting five Emmys, an Oscar, and a Tony. But early in her career, Dame Helen Mirren was warned that she'd never become a star if she didn't get a nose job. Discussing the misplaced advice on The Hollywood Reporter's Roundtable with Niecy Nash, Parker Posey, Keri Russell, Kathy Bates, and Cristin Milioti, the 79-year-old accidentally offended her fellow thespians with a remark about their looks. 'Someone said, 'You'll never get work if you don't have a nose job.' I said no. I didn't want to be a pretty actress anyway. I elected to be not so pretty,' she said. Mirren then made a sweeping statement about the group's looks - which didn't go down well with one Oscar winner. 'Looking at our faces around this table, none of us are beautiful,' Mirren remarked. 'Oh, get out of town! I feel more beautiful than I have in my entire life,' Bates snapped back. Doubling down on her position, Mirren firmly stated, 'We're not. None of us are beauties. We all have really different faces, very interesting faces.' Attempting to calm the situation, Russell chimed in, 'I know what you mean. Like model beautiful?' Mirren cooly responded 'We all know what "beautiful" is like.' Although the legendary actress has shied away from plastic surgery and conventional beauty standards, she's always maintained a fit physique through exercise. She told Woman's Weekly that she is 'a big believer in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) women's exercise regime, which is 12 minutes.' The star explained: '[Exercise] doesn't mean joining expensive gyms. It is an exercise regime that starts from very low and easy, then if you follow it through it can become quite difficult. 'I've never gotten past the second level but it's a nice little exercise program,' she added. The program is called the XBX routine, which means ten basic exercises, and was created by Dr Bill Orban in the 1950s for the Canadian Air Force's new female recruits to improve their fitness levels. It includes 30 seconds each of simple exercises like toe touching, knee raises, lateral bending and arm circling. Last month, Mirren told people in midlife not to 'fear' ageing. The 79-year-old actress said people should make 'little changes now to help them later in life.' This 'doesn't have to include joining a gym' but could include short walks or yoga, the Oscar winner said. Backing Age UK's new campaign, she said: 'Whatever you may think about ageing, it's something we must all try to embrace rather than fear. 'It's no secret that for many, getting older will come with its complications - specifically there will likely be aches and pains along the way, getting out and about and living as independently as we're used to in our younger years may not be as easy to do. 'This is why I'm supporting Age UK's Act Now, Age Better campaign, they're encouraging everyone in their 50s to make little changes now to help them later on in life,' she continued. 'It doesn't have to be joining a gym; it can just be small changes like taking a short walk or yoga, which I still enjoy. 'It's never too late to start doing something, so why not give something a go while you're younger?'

Kylie Jenner's BFF Stassie Karanikolaou finally admits she had BBL but reveals major regret over procedure

Kylie Jenner 's best friend Stassie Karanikolaou has finally admitted that she had a BBL surgery to greatly enhance the size of her derriere when she was younger. She appeared on Bravo Bri's podcast where she said the number one question she's been getting for the past 10 years is has she had plastic surgery and 'a** implants'. Stassie, 27, said she was pretty sure she revealed her BBL - a Brazilian Butt Lift - on an episode of Call My Daddy. At the time she knew she had to say something but she didn't want to come right out and say it. 'So I think I said literally "I moved things around,"' causing Stassie and Bri to giggle. 'I don't have a** implants and I don't think it's anything I can hide at this point, yes I have a BBL. I moved fat around.' Stassie also admitted to having a breast augmentation prompting Bri to say 'Well you look fabulous.' Stassie responded: 'Thank you, I just got them done a week ago.' She then got serious, saying, 'Obviously I got this done super young. It's something that I regret and I think that's why it's been so hard to talk about for so long.' She admitted that she's actively been trying to fix her BBL, saying, 'I literally have another surgery in a week to try and reduce the size of it a little more.' Stassie said they size of her BBL has been affecting her for years and she wished she didn't feel the way she did when she had it done. She felt like it was necessary because of the pressure put on women to conform to certain beauty standards that change over time. 'Do not surgically change your body for a trend and just know that its only going to be relevant for a little bit. 'Anyone else that knows me knows this is something I've been trying to do for a long time.' Kylie and Stassie have been friends for a long time after meeting through mutual friends when they were 13 and hanging out at a book store, Karanikolaou revealed on an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast released in 2022. Since then, they have remained close and constant friends through their steady rise to fame. When Jenner celebrated her 27th birthday last summer Karanikolaou was present to party with her and was even featured on her Instagram post declaring that she had the 'best birthday ever.' During the same podcast appearance, Karanikolaou also got candid about getting plastic surgery at a young age. She opened up about the specific procedures she's had done but denied getting any work done on her backside. 'I have not had butt implants. The only implants that I have are in my t*tties,' she said. 'And I'm not saying that I haven't done other things and I haven't, you know, moved some things around or whatever the case may be. 'But I just feel like I was at a point in my life when I was younger and I felt like my lips needed to be big, my boobs needed to be big. 'Everything ... my butt needed to be big,' she said at the time. About her decision to get candid, she also stressed the importance of being open about cosmetic enhancements. 'There's such a stigma in plastic surgery and I feel like whether you say that you've done it or whether you don't say you've done it, people are going to find a way to say something about it and like make it a negative thing,' she said. 'No one needs to tell anyone anything if they don't want to.' However, she continued to open up about the 'taboo' subject and explained that the very first procedure she had was lip filler — but 'not at a good place,' she said. Since then, she said she continues to receive negative comments about her appearance on social media and even once in real life when she was vacationing in Greece. When a stranger told her she was 'full of plastic,' she said it upset her. 'I wanted to start crying,' she said. 'I don't want to look plastic. I don't want to look fake.' Afterwards, she said that she started revising her work to look 'more natural.' She also mentioned beauty standards and how they change like trends but noted that she has no regrets even though she wants a different look nowadays. 'I wouldn't say regret. I would say I've gotten stuff done that I didn't like the result but not regret," she said. 'At the time I wanted it and for the time I liked it. But I have taken it back.'

Jamie Lee Curtis: I had plastic surgery at 25 after comment on set

Jamie Lee Curtis, the Oscar-winning actress, has revealed that she had plastic surgery at the age of 25 after being told on set that her eyes were 'baggy'. The comment was made by a cinematographer during filming for the 1985 romantic drama Perfect, Curtis said. 'He was like, 'Yeah, I'm not shooting her today. Her eyes are baggy'. It was very embarrassing,' she told 60 Minutes. 'So as soon as the movie finished, I ended up having some plastic surgery.' The surgery did not go well, according to Curtis, who is now 66. 'I regretted it immediately and have kind of regretted it since,' she said. 'I've become a really public advocate to say to women: 'You're gorgeous and you're perfect the way

Can I Wear a Sheath Dress Without Looking Like a MAGA Woman?

There is a very specific look associated with women who subscribe to the Trump worldview, one that is sort of a cross between a Fox newscaster and Miss Universe. It generally involves flowing tresses that are at least shoulder length, false eyelashes, plumped-up cheeks and lips, high heels and, as you say, a sheath dress. The effect underscores an almost cartoonish femininity that speaks to a relatively old-fashioned gender stereotype; the counterpart to this woman is the square-jawed, besuited guy with a side part. Simply consider the women of the Trump family, who embody the standard: Melania, Ivanka, Lara and Tiffany, as well as Don Jr.'s new girlfriend, Bettina Anderson, and his former fiancée, Kimberly Guilfoyle. Also Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, and the former Trump defense lawyer Alina Habba. Indeed, I think one reason people are so fascinated by Usha Vance is that, with her willingness to let her hair go gray and her seeming aversion to makeup, she has become the exception that proves the rule. In any case, the Trump-approved lady look has stayed so consistent that it has effectively infiltrated everyone's cerebellum, and we now have an almost Pavlovian reaction to seeing anyone with flowing hair and false eyelashes and lip plumper in a sheath dress. But here's the thing: Of all the visual cues on that list, the sheath dress is the least important. The look of Trump world is increasingly about the beauty choices, more than the clothes. You can see this with Attorney General Pam Bondi, who favors pantsuits, and the White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who seems to vacillate between suits and sheath dresses. No matter what they wear, however, they are never anything but a Trump woman, even before they get to policy. There is actually a name for how they look: 'Mar-a-Lago face,' after the Trump golf club that is home to so many of those sporting the look. Which also involves 'conservative girl makeup.' And that is good news for anybody who doesn't want to wear their politics on their sleeve. If you favor a sheath dress but want to avoid its political associations, just think of it as a base layer and consider how you accessorize it. Part of the essential appeal of the sheath dress — the reason it is such a wardrobe basic — is its very simplicity. A sheath dress is easy to wear and can take you from work to cocktails exactly because it is plain enough to … well, fit in many different situations. First, think about color. Red, white and blue have become the palette of the current administration, with pink and other classically 'girlie' shades as a fallback. Instead, opt for black or other tones that suggest different associations (goth, minimalist, intellectual, rebel). Keep your hair natural or messy. Keep your makeup minimal and your heels low. Maybe wear boots or even flats or sneakers instead of pumps; if you want height, go blocky or platform rather than stiletto. The point is to look like an individual, complete with idiosyncrasies and attitude, rather than an A.I.-generated member of a crowd.
