RACE 4: Benchmark 58 (1000m) CHAMPAGNE TONIGHT (7) was spelled after a debut third at Cranbourne in October. Resumed from a spell for a new stable with a nose win from I'm Done over 1000m here. ECHELON (6) placed once in nine starts in Victoria. Transferred to the Cavanough stable and scored a good win from Jagerschnitzel at Muswellbrook. Good chance again. BET: CHAMPAGNE TONIGHT (7) to win. RACE 5: Class 1 Plate (1600m) GHAZNAVI (2) was unlucky two starts back after caught deep throughout from a wide gate when a nose second to Saint Philomena over 1400m at Mudgee. Stepped up to 1600m and was again wide before beating The Big Blue here. Drawn ideally and will give this a shake. PINDORAMA (11) tracked the leader before scoring a two length win from Mad Harry on debut here on June 23. Got well back from a wide draw before running home for third to Wild Sensation 18 days later. OCEANFRONT (5) will be improved by his first-up second at Tamworth. BET: GHAZNAVI (2) each-way. RACE 6: Maiden Plate (1300m) SMART BUY (9) was a little unlucky not to break her maiden second-up last campaign when a three-quarter length second to Tulipwood at Dubbo after being held-up on the turn. DWAYNE (1) steps out for a new stable off a Gosford trial win. Has provincial form from 1500m up to 1890m. BET: SMART BUY (9) each-way. RACE 7: Class 2 Handicap (1300m) SOLITARIO (2) resumed with a nice win from Star Prediction to break his maiden here before returning to win a Class 1 from Cresta Run. Raced wide without cover when a neck third to Ilovenews when shooting for a hat-trick in a Bm66. GIRRAWHEEN (5) was fifth to Solitario in the Class 1 first-up before dropping back to 1100m and beating My Boy Scout at Dubbo. SEBILLA (7) has been freshened since fading in a Highway Rosehill on June 14. Has claims on her third to Fiorsum Fred here three starts back. BET: SOLITARIO (2) to win. NEXT BEST Race 6 No.1 CASSIEL: Runner-up in Saturday grade last start. Can bounce back. VALUE BET Race 3 No.7 AROHA STONE: Back in grade and distance. Very unlucky here two runs back. QUADDIE Race 4: 5, 9 Race 5: 1, 8, 10 Race 6: 1, 5, 6 Race 7: 5, 10, 13 JOCKEY TO FOLLOW James McDonald is back in town and can take out the TAB Jockey Challenge. LAY OF THE DAY Race 2 No.6 THE STARS: Drawn wide in an open race. A worthy risk at anything less than $4. WARWICK FARM INSIDE MAIL INDIGO STAR (2) was no match for Stardeel but worked home okay for second over 1100m first-up on the Kensington. Raced three-wide without cover when third to Invisible Magic over 1400m last start. Looks like he will appreciate the step up to the mile. RASP (6) was third at Ballarat at his first run for a new stable before a good closing third at Bendigo over 1400m. Was fourth to Broadsiding in the Fernhill at his only go at this trip. DOLLARS (8) didn't have a lot of luck when beaten as favourite at Coffs Harbour. Handy second at Newcastle last start over this trip. BET: INDIGO STAR (2) to win. DUKE ATREIDES (8), the half-brother to Best Of Bordeaux, started favourite on debut when a two-length fourth to the very promising San Giovanni who won again on the weekend. This colt will take improvement from the run and drawn to be prominent. KOKATAHI (10) was good on debut when a three-quarter length third to Central Coast over 1250m at Canterbury on June 18. Followed up with a handy third to Tomato Toastie at Randwick on July 12. Back to maiden grade. THE STARS (6) placed at her last two runs on last campaign and returned with a second to Samarelle at Newcastle. BET: DUKE ATREIDES (8) each-way. AROHA STONE (7) was something beaten here two runs back when badly held up before finishing a nose behind Covert Thinking. Up in grade and found a strongly run 1800m tough when seventh to Aberlour. Back in grade and back to the mile suits. AUDREY'S LANE (3) resumed from an eight month lay-off with a handy second to Bella Corazon when giving away 3kg. With the benefit of that run, she came from midfield to beat the in-form California Secret at Newcastle. AUTUMN DREAM (6) was very good winning at Kembla last start. Ready to step up to city company. BET: AROHA STONE (7) each-way. TAZIMA (5) settled three back on the rails before running home strongly late for a three-quarter length fourth to Sammy Conquers All over 1400m on the Kensington at his Australian debut. Won over 2011m at his second and last run in England. FIORSUM FRED (9) was very unlucky at Tamworth two starts ago when held up. He finished eighth to Rajnish but should has gone close to winning. Jumped up in grade and beaten less than three lengths behind Boys Night out in the South Grafton Cup. Drops back sharply in grade and only goes up 2kg. PINK SHALALA (4) and KAPAKIRI (2) have claims. BET: TAZIMA (5) to win. NAVAL COMMISSION (1) should have run a place at the very least at Rosehill last start when held at two vital stages in the last 150m and finishing fifth behind Good Banter. Placed at his previous three runs as he was building in trip. Winner at this track and distance. HOVLAND (8) was beaten a nose second-up at Gosford before a nice win from Magicon over 1800m at Hawkesbury. Stepped up in class when a length fifth to Monarchs Brae on a heavy track at Canterbury. Up to 2200m for the first time and the blinkers come off. MAGICON (10) has been racing well and scored a deserved win over this trip at Grafton last start. BET: NAVAL COMMISSION (1) to win. CASSIEL (1) was kicked off his campaign with a good wins at Canterbury on Apr 21 and at Hawkesbury on June 17. Denied the hat-trick when stepping up to Saturday grade when runner-up to Bundeena in a Bm78 at Randwick. Back in grade and hard to beat. MABEL (6) hasn't won since Nov 2023 but she has run some good races. Was a nose second to Angel Fund in a Randwick Midway in January and was a little unlucky when fourth to Bundeena at Randwick last start. JAMBALAYA (5) resumes after a stylish trial win here on July 8. Has a win and two placings from his three fresh runs. BET: CASSIEL (1) to win. GOLDEN STRAAND (10) was a little green on debut when a length second to Sapphire Rose at Wyong before breaking through with a big Super Maiden win at Gosford. Jumped up to a Bm72 with a game second to Diddle Dumpling at Rosehill. THE REPLICANT (13) hasn't won since beaten Bluff 'N' Bluster over 1400m here on Oct 2, 2023 but is rarely far away. Shayne O'Cass's Wellington, Wagga Tuesday tips: July 29, 2025
Form analyst Shayne O'Cass presents his best bets and inside mail for Wellington on Thursday, plus his tips for the Wagga meeting. • PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. SUBSCRIBE NOW! ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ WELLINGTON TIPS BEST BET Race 1 No.4 HANNAH'S BRIDGE: Has shown improvement from one run to the next; so close now. NEXT BEST Race 4 No.14 THE GIT UP: Placed at 10 of her 16 starts; this could be the day for breaking through. VALUE Race 7 No.8 PODCAST: Be right in the finish if she can bounce back to her pre-Highway form. QUADDIE Race 4: 3,5,6,14 Race 5: 1,4,5,11 Race 6: 5,6,10 Race 7: 8,13,14 JOCKEY TO FOLLOW Two-times SA Jockeys Premiership winner Chad Lever has some good rides out west today. WELLINGTON INSIDE MAIL RACE 1: Maiden Plate (1400m) HANNAH'S BRIDGE (4) was bred by her trainer Derek Piper and is a half-sister to her handy stablemate named Cheap Gas. As a daughter of Caulfield Guineas winner Divine Prophet, she should relish the 1400m for the first time on Tuesday. Her debut was good, her follow up was very good. Just has to handle the wet conditions. LOVE AIN'T FREE (1) handed in a PB last start when third at Dubbo. Drawn well. WINNING REIGN (12) is an 18-start maiden and the wet form is a worry but back to 1400m is a plus. BET: HANNAH'S BRIDGE (4) to win (best bet). RACE 2: Maiden Plate (900m) ANGIE'S SISTER (5) was $21 into $71 on debut in a 1000m Country Maiden on September 29 last year and ran a very cheeky race; she led and came in fourth of 14 at the finish behind a pretty handy winner in Taormina Sailor (see race 3 below). Market the guide again. MERE MORTAL (3) made his Michael Lynch-stable debut on July 15 at Warren, finishing second on the Heavy 8. Go well again. UFANA (9) is yet to win in 19 starts but hasn't run many bad races at all since Sharon Jeffries has had her. BET: ANGIE'S SISTER (5) to win, box First 4 Nos. 3,5,7,9,11. RACE 3: Benchmark 58 (900m) AORNINA SAILOR (7) will turn seven on August 1 but has only raced 10 times for one reason or another. What we do know about him is that he has talent. He's won twice with two placings and a handful of fourths and fifths. Comes off a smashing rival behind a good horse (Nimble Star, see race 5 below). CAPITAL DANCER (8) should feel comfortable in 'country grade'. HARD TOO IMPRESS (10) is very much on the right trajectory this campaign. Third-up, drawn well, good jockey, has handled the Heavy before. BET: TAORNINA SAILOR (7) to win, HARD TOO IMPRESS (10) to place. RACE 4: Maiden Handicap (1100m) THE GIT UP (14) remains winless after 16 starts but keep in mind that he has placed 10 times and five of them are seconds. There are no easy maidens in racing these days but this one looks well within his reach based on what he medalled in the past. NORTHERN EXPOSURE (3) is one for the pedigree buffs; in short, his third dam, North Fleur, is the granddam of the great Northerly. A veteran of four starts, he was placed at Dubbo on debut and has 'next time/more ground' written all over first-up at Muswellbrook. The 2023 Silver Goblet placegetter DUREN (5) has claims. BET: THE GIT UP (14) to win, box trifecta 3,5,6,14. RACE 5: Benchmark 58 (1100m) LIGHTNING SPEED (5) is ready to strike first-up BUT with nominations for two races at home at Scone on Thursday, one wonders if she will make the trip on Tuesday, more so given that all her form is on Good tracks. In her absence, all you can wind-in NIMBLE STAR (1) a few points; that said, he was always going to be popular given he is a Brett Robb-trained galloper who has won two of three and lost the rider at the other one. Stablemate DENMAN DEPUTY (4) is the one with the race fitness. More than that, he is a last-start winner. BET: LIGHTNING SPEED (5) to win or if scratched, DENMAN DEPUTY (4) and MISS KARIS (11) to place. RACE 6: Benchmark 66 (1600m) THE IMPECKABLE (6) has 16 starts for three wins, three seconds and four thirds. He goes on anything; his record on Heavy is two starts for a win and a third. One thing about him, from the outside looking in, is that he might not win every time but he does hold his form really well. BLUE GUITAR (5) has some seriously compelling numbers. Two of his four career wins are at a mile, he has placed on Heavy and is one for one at Wellington (should the meeting be at this venue). Building up to something and this could be it. BET: THE IMPECKABLE (6) to win, BLUE GUITAR (5) each-way, quinella 5,6. RACE 7: Class 2 Handicap (1400m) PODCAST (8), a $330,000 Magic Millions Yearling purchase in 2025, sold again for $3,000 online in February this year was going great guns prior to her two '00's at the last couple. That said, one was a TAB Highway and she actually wasn't that bad. Warren last start was harder to forgive but then again, they aren't machines and can have bad days. Mudgee mare KOBOLD (14)'s last two by contrast have been very encouraging, she beat a decent line-up at home on July 6 then was huge from near last to finish a length off the winner in a Class 1 at Bathurst. BET: PODCAST (8) each-way, KOBOLD (14) to place. ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ WAGGA TIPS BEST BET Race 8 No.18 SUPER RIFF: Hit the line with purpose last start and has won on a heavy track. NEXT BEST Race 3 No.5 PRIDE OF JEZZA: Gary Colvin-trained gelding who was a booming winner on a Wagga heavy 10 last start. LAY OF THE DAY Race 3 No.6 FLUTTERBY: Has competition here and looks a good lay at $3 or less.

Bet: Commanding Belle to win ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ RACE 6: Illawarra Steelers Hcp (C1) 1500m JAMARNI (4) was held up in the straight never tested when ninth to Autumn Dream last start. SAN GIOVANNI (5) was specked on debut at Newcastle where settled back third last before closing strongly to beat Bella Wahine over 1200m. From a 1400m stakes winner so he should appreciate the extra trip. SWEXAN (3) led and held on for a narrow win over 1450m at Muswellbrook last start. Bet: Jamarni each-way RACE 7: Peter Newell Oam Memorial (Bm64) 2400m TWILIGHT ELEGANCE (4) stepped up to 2100m for the first time when a closing third to Malbork Castle at Hawkesbury after being held up between the 400m and 300m. LENNOX (1) was third over 1600m at Gosford and fifth over 1900m at Canterbury before stepping up to 2100m when second to Twilight Elegance. Was fourth over this trip in his last run in England. He is a 68 rater and the 3kg gets him into this race nicely. WAVE BREAKER (5) raced on speed in her first two runs back in metropolitan company. Came from near last when third to Prima Bella at Newcastle last start. Bet: Bev's Nine to win
