Expecting him to take that form to the races. GOVERNOR KING (Race 8 No.2): The Henry Dwyer-trained galloper has improved with every run this time in and won a recent jumpout at Ballarat. He'll go well again over 1700m. VALUE BET DIAMOND WAR (Race 9 No.12): Diamond War steps up in class but is racing well without having the best of luck. He's drawn to have the right run and is a great each-way chance. THE JOCKEY JOHN ALLEN Jockey John Allen heads to Geelong for eight rides on Thursday. The selection was third behind two subsequent winners in a novice race at this track on the second of her two juvenile starts. She failed to build on that at the same venue on her reappearance, but she had a troubled run and probably needed the outing. Another 83 days on, there's a fair chance she'll confirm that earlier promise and prove ahead of what is a modest handicap mark in a weak fillies-only event. She has a useful pedigree and goes for good connections. Selection: Luisa @ 8/1 with William Hill Go to site > 2.17 Leicester – Class 6 Handicap (1m 2f) This is a moderate race and SHABU SHABU can potentially improve enough to make a winning handicap debut. He has been well held in three maidens and novices, but they came on the all-weather at up to a mile and he has since been gelded. The selection now switches to turf and goes up in trip, and his pedigree is loaded with stamina. The fitting of cheekpieces for the first time is a bit disconcerting, but there still seems a fair chance he will prove competitive off a basement mark, with a capable apprentice taking 7lb off.
