Buildings in Southampton evacuated as bin fire causes gas leak
Buildings have been evacuated and a cordon has been put in place after a bin fire led to a gas leak in a busy city Fire and Rescue Service said it was alerted shortly after 19:00 BST to a fire in a bin behind a commercial premises on the High Street in from St Mary's, Hightown and Eastleigh arrived to extinguish the fire but found nearby gas units had been damaged leading to a services evacuated adjacent buildings and around 20 firefighters are working alongside the police, with gas engineers also set to attend the scene.
