Suspect grabbed staff member at Sault business, police say
A 46-year-old from Sault Ste. Marie has been charged following a bizarre incident at a business on East Street on Wednesday.
A 46-year-old from Sault Ste. Marie has been charged following a bizarre incident at a business on East Street on Wednesday.
A 911 call around 2:15 p.m. reported an assault at the business involving a staff member and a member of the public. The two don't know each other, police said.
'An investigation revealed the accused had touched and grabbed a staff member multiple times while making sexual comments,' police said in a news release.
'The victim and accused are not known to one another. No physical injuries were reported.'
Police located the suspect, who refused to reveal their name. Charges include sexual assault, assault and obstructing police.
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
