North Yorkshire 'boil order' lifted after water bacteria alert

It was all sold out and despite being told I would get some as I'm vulnerable, none arrived," she this week, residents in the affected areas shared their concerns over a lack of bottled water after shopkeepers in Bentham told the BBC they had sold out of them since the boil order had been issued. Before the boil order was lifted, other businesses had also spoken of their concerns over the impact it could have if it went on for any length of Rucastle, who runs Rucastle Holiday Lets in Ingleton with his wife, told the BBC earlier this week they had not been accepting mid-week bookings in a bid to try and "slow things down".Mr Rucastle said they had considered cancelling their next visitors, due to arrive on Friday, if there had not been further clarity on the issue from Yorkshire Bryan Jeffs, the owner of The Black Pig Cafe, said on Monday that he had stopped serving tap water altogether in favour of bottled water while the boil order remained in speaking before the order was lifted, Gail Lister, from G & Mo's Cafe in Bentham, said she had taken a pragmatic approach to the issue."Ninety nine per cent of the time, you turn the tap on and the water's fine," she said."There are so many countries where you cannot drink the water - or countries that do not have clean water."Confirming the end of the boil order, a Yorkshire Water spokesperson said: "We'd like to apologise to everybody impacted."We thank them for their understanding and patience throughout." North Yorkshire 'boil tap water' alert after bacteria discovered

The Yorkshire Water spokesperson said the firm was "really sorry" about the results of its tests and was "working hard to resolve this issue".In a statement, Yorkshire Water said "higher than usual levels of the coliform bacteria" had been discovered during routine tests of tap water in the firm's spokesperson said boiling water would offer "sufficient protection", adding that they appreciated having to do so "can be inconvenient".Yorkshire Water has been asked by the BBC to confirm how many properties in the area were affected by the "boil order" in total. The manager of a shop in Bentham, who did not want to be named, said: "We sold out of bottled water yesterday."We sold about 88 individual bottles and 19 six-packs, but we've restocked today."Meanwhile, a staff member at a hotel in Bentham, who also did not want to be named, told the BBC: "People are panic buying. We've been told to boil all our drinking water. I think it's because we've had so little rain lately."Mohamed Ezzat, owner of G & Mo's Cafe in Bentham, said: "To serve customers who want drinking water, we are having to boil water then keep it cool in the fridge."Bryan Jeffs, owner of The Black Pig Cafe, said he had stopped serving tap water altogether in favour of bottled Jeffs said people in the area had been notified about the issue through social media, texts on their phones and leaflets, but added that the information provided by Yorkshire Water "didn't really explain what the issue was".A Yorkshire Water spokesperson said bottled water had been delivered to any customer on its priority services property affected by the issue "has had a hand-delivered notice of the boil order", they water stations had been set up at the Lair Gill Car Park on Butts Lane in High Bentham, the playing field on Wenning Ave in High Bentham, and at the Recreation Ground in Burton In Lonsdale, the spokesperson added. Boil order issued in Springfield neighborhood
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — A boil order is affecting 64 people where a water main was repaired in a Springfield neighborhood, and it's expected to last through the weekend. According to City Water, Light and Power, people affected by this boil order will receive door-to-door notice, including those on Star Avenue, Mars Avenue and Neptune Avenue, which are all parts of Skyline Heights in Springfield. Per regulations, the water main was flushed, and multiple water samples were taken. One set of the samples did not fully meet CWLP water quality standards. Boil order in effect for part of Taylorville Additional water quality sampling will confirm when the water meets all standards and at that time, the boil order will be lifted. As a precaution, people affected are urged to boil all tap water used for drinking or cooking before use until the boil order lifted, which is expected to be on Monday, May 12. Water should be brought to a 'rolling' boil for five minutes and then cooled before use. When the order is lifted, it will be announced by door-to-door notifications to those who are affected. Boil order in effect for part of Taylorville
TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — The Taylorville Water Department announced on Friday that a portion of the city is under a boil order until further notice. Assumption City Council votes to shut down cat rescue until they get a main facility The boil order has been put into effect due to water main repairs. The areas affected include 220 Beechwood Drive and the 300 block of Beechwood Drive. Water Superintendent Marlin Brune said that no restaurants are affected by this boil order. Additionally, this boil order will be in effect until bacteriological samples can be taken to ensure public safety. The public is being urged to boil all water used for drinking and cooking purposes to a rolling boil for five minutes before using it. Residents will be notified when the boil order is lifted.
