BBC announces ‘difficult decision' to axe book-centric chat show
The BBC has cancelled Sara Cox 's chat show Between the Covers after eight series, citing a "difficult decision" to prioritise content that drives viewers to iPlayer.
Between the Covers, which featured celebrity guests discussing their favourite books, had been broadcast since 2020 and was praised by viewers for spotlighting newly published works.
Fans of the show have expressed significant anger and disappointment on social media following the announcement of its cancellation.
Another BBC series, the critically acclaimed drama This Town, has also been axed.
The series, created by Peaky Blinders writer Steven Knight, received strong reviews, but will not return for a second series.
