Driver charged with impaired driving in Fort McMurray hit-and-run
A Fort McMurray man has been charged with drunk driving and for not staying at the scene of a collision in a Saturday hit-and-run in the northern Alberta city.
Wood Buffalo RCMP said in a Monday media release that a 60-year-old man faces charges including failure to stop after an accident and driving a vehicle while impaired.
The charges come after police answered a 9-1-1- call of a collision between a white Pontiac Grand Prix and a Toyota Sienna on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. at a four-way stop in a downtown intersection at Manning Avenue and Centennial Drive.
Police say witnesses to the collision said the driver of the Pontiac looked to be impaired, and gave officers a description of the driver and the car. Police found the man at his home shortly after and arrested him without incident, they said.
The man provided breath samples that exceeded the legal blood-alcohol concentration limit of 80 mg three times, police said.
