Opera's new browser can code websites and games for you
Opera on Tuesday revealed a new version of its browser, called Opera Neon, that will focus on AI workflows and be able to perform tasks on your behalf, like shopping, filling out forms, and coding websites and games. The company is keeping the browser behind a waitlist. It also said that when released, Opera Neon will be a premium subscription product, but didn't give details about pricing. The new Neon browser has Chat, Do, and Make options on the sidebar. The chat option is your standard chatbot interface that allows you to search the web, get answers to your queries, and ask for more information about the webpage you are looking at. The Do option will feature the company's Browser Operator AI agent, which was announced in March. The company claims that the AI agent will perform tasks for you, like filling forms or handling your trip bookings locally in the browser. The new browser will also have a make option that will allow users to create a game, a website, a snippet of code, or a report. The company said AI workflows to enable this feature are performed through a virtual machine in the cloud. That means you can ask Neon to create something, and it will keep on working even if you go offline. The company said users will be able to run multiple tasks at the same time. All this sounds great on paper, but often AI demos or ads don't perform well in the real world. Plus, Opera is not the only company working on agents for browsers. The Browser Company teased an AI-powered browser last December that aims to have agents do stuff for you. Google is also working on projects that bring the web to you through commands.
