Canola farmer says Chinese tariffs might put him out of business
Saskatchewan farmers are already feeling the strain of Chinese tariffs on Canadian canola. Codie Nagy, a canola farmer north of Ogema, Sask., says his operation may have to shift towards growing more pulses or cereals if the tariffs persist. He added that increasing cost of fertilizers, pesticides and equipment have impacted the profit margin for canola producers. In 2024, Canada's canola exports to China totalled $4.9 billion, making it the largest market for canola seed
