Three men charged in relation to seizure of €340,700 in cash
Three men have appeared in court charged in connection with the seizure of more than €340,700 in cash in Drumcondra, north Dublin on Friday. Mohamed Alsourani (43), Anas Altahlh (40) and Issa Al Aboud (43) appeared before Dublin District Court on Saturday evening. The three men are charged with being in possession of the cash knowing or believing it was the proceeds of criminal conduct. Gardaí told the court that the men were stopped in a taxi while on the way to Dublin Airport after the Garda Response Team received confidential information. The men had arrived in Ireland on July 22nd and stayed in a room in a hotel in the north inner city. The court heard two of the men are Syrian-Swedish citizens and that an Arabic translator would be required for the third man. READ MORE Judge Anthony Halpin refused bail for the three men while legal aid was granted. They will appear before Cloverhill District Court for mention on July 30th.

More than £2.6m cash seized in 'money laundering' investigation
More than £2.6m of cash has been seized as part of a National Crime Agency (NCA) investigation into suspected money laundering in Newry. The NCA said after searches of two businesses and two residential properties, a total of £882,695 and €1.055m (£902,000) was recovered by its officers as suspected criminal funds. It said a further £692,140 and €223,490 (£191,028) had previously been seized by Police Service of Northern Ireland officers, working in partnership with the NCA, "in earlier disruptions". A 26-year-old man from Newry, who was arrested on 19 June, has been bailed as the investigation continues.

The searches targeted the assets of an individual suspected of involvement in drug trafficking. Advertisement Cab officers, gardaí from the Kerry division, the Garda Armed Support Unit and the Customs Dog Unit conducted searches at residences and businesses across the county. During the operation, Cab officers seized more than €200,000 in cash, electronic devices and 'documents of evidential value', a Garda press release said. 'This investigation remains ongoing,' it said.
