Old Clip Of Michelle Obama's Honesty About The Struggles Of Raising Kids Ignites Gender War
Source: Tom Williams / Getty Since leaving the White House in 2017, Michelle Obama has been pretty honest about her time as a First Lady. But lately she's been digging deep into another role a lot more women can relate to: having a husband. She even hosts a podcast, titled IMO , with her brother Craig Robinson, but the internet is up in arms about a conversation she had three years ago. Back in 2022, Obama was part of an Angie Martinez-hosted Revolt round table where she was joined by Winnie Harlow, Kelly Rowland, H.E.R., and Tina Knowles. This was around the time her book The Light We Carry was released, which focused on overcoming uncertainty in her career, marriage, and motherhood. While chatting about the book, she reveals that despite Barack Obama eventually becoming president, they had a hard time adjusting to life with kids, like everyone else. 'But the minute we had kids, it was like, 'Where are you going, and how far?' And you start measuring, it's like, 'How many diapers did you change?'' Michelle says, of the unfair split of labor with Barack. 'And 'oh, you're golfing? Oh, you got time? Oh, you got time to golf? How you at the gym all the time?'' The other women chime in with agreement as Michelle continues about the working dynamic and the stress of young kids. 'That's when all the measuring starts, because you got this project,' she said. 'Little kids, they're terrorists. They have demands, they don't talk, they're poor communicators, they cry all the time, they're irrational, they're selfish, and you love them more than anything, and so you can't blame them, right?' She goes on to explain that the lesson she learned was that marriage isn't 50-50, and they both push and pull at different points in the relationship. This isn't the first time Michelle has been candid about working through the kinks in her marriage, which she had brought up previously during Essence Fest in 2019. Despite their busy lives, she remembered getting mad at Barack for making time to go to the gym. 'This was right when we started going to counseling,' Obama said. 'And I think for us as women, many of us, we have a hard time putting ourselves on our own priority list, let alone at the top of it.' Marcus Jordan Celebrates 40 Days of Sobriety After DUI & Drug Possession Arrest
Source: Amanda Edwards / Getty Months after being charged with a DUI and drug possession, Michael Jordan's son, Marcus, is starting anew. Marcus has taken steps to improve his life, and now he's celebrating being sober for a little over a month. He shared the news via his Instagram Story, which showed him getting a workout in alongside text that read, '40 days and counting…' The 34-year-old's new lifestyle comes after he was arrested in Florida back in February on possession of cocaine when he was found sitting in his Lamborghini, which got stuck on train tracks after leaving a strip club. Cops say the car had bumper damage and suspected it occurred after he fled from authorities who attempted to stop him for a traffic violation. Cops noticed the smell of liquor coming from the car, his eyes were 'bloodshot' and 'glassy,' and they arrested him on suspicion of DUI when he failed the field sobriety test around 1 am. After placing him in cuffs, they conducted a thorough search and uncovered a baggy full of a substance that was later proven to be cocaine, and then amended to ketamine. The complete list of offenses —all of which he pled not guilty to—includes one felony charge of ketamine possession, one misdemeanor count of DUI with property damage, and one count of resisting arrest. He was released after posting a $4,000 bond, and his legal team later released a statement on his behalf acknowledging his substance abuse issues. They were also hoping a judge would order him to enter a treatment program, which would 'not only benefit him personally but also serve the community by reducing the likelihood of future offenses.' Days after the arrest, he was back home and thanked those who'd reached out to him. While refusing to offer any comment, he did say he planned to focus on his sneaker store, Trophy Room, which has been based in Florida since 2016. 'I appreciate everyone reaching out. I'm focusing on @trophyroomstore right now and won't be making any comments on recent media stories and my personal life,' he wrote. 'I sincerely appreciate your concerns & thank you for your kind understanding.' Lauryn Hill Visits Harvard To Talk Building Community Within Songwriting 'Purpose. Love. Passion. Connecting.'

The singer made her way to Harvard, where she spoke on a panel. With two rare public-facing events back to back, she expressed that she hadn't done an interview in a while and hopes her contribution to the conversation isn't 'underwhelming.' Also rare is Hill releasing music, and she hasn't dropped an album since the highly regarded The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1998. Still, so many years later, she offered the audience advice on her writing method and finding joy and inspiration in her surroundings. 'I find what I love, I find what I care about, and then I write about that. I have mind and motion and need. Combined. That's what I do, which I'm sure all of you are doing,' she said. She even boils it down to a few core principles of 'Purpose. Love. Passion. Connecting.' Beyond that, Hill says that before putting pen to paper, it is also essential to build a community around you that can help fuel your creative process and theirs. 'Curate a community, find a community. People who understand you. Who get you. Who can appreciate, who can reflect you. Who can resonate, so you're not in a vacuum. You can bounce ideas off of someone. They can also articulate appreciation. You can articulate appreciation back. I think these are very healthy and important things in the world.' This isn't the first time Hill has visited the revered campus; she reportedly went there in 2023 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of her The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill . At Monday night's Met Gala, Hill blurred gender formalwear norms with a Jude Dontoh-designed yellow suit with a train attached. She also worked with Ghanaian jewelry designer Emefa Cole to ensure she wore accessories that paid homage to Ghanaian royalty, staying true to the 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style' theme. Men have accused women of only going on dates for free meals, and now one star has admitted to doing that when she was down bad financially. During a recent Instagram Live session, frequent oversharer and actress Tiffany Haddish talked about her come-up and felt terrible when she went on dates for freebies. 'Do you know how horrible it is to go on a date with a guy because you need a meal?' she asked . 'I don't even want to be nice to this person or get to know him. I'm hungry.' Looking back on her actions, Haddish didn't enjoy the wining and dining b ecause she 'cares too much about other people.' While the struggle is no longer that real for the actress and comedian, she understands that it is for so many, and inflation will only make it worse. 'In this past election, we were told the price of food would come down, but it seems like it's just going up,' she said. 'We're about to learn how amazing the human body can be when you don't eat.'
