Mediacorp partners with South Korean production house behind K-dramas Light Shop and Moving

Mediacorp has forged a partnership with renowned South Korean production company the creative force behind critically acclaimed K-dramas Light Shop and Moving, as well as the Korean unit for Marvel's Black Panther. The two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the 18th Busan Content Market on May 28, according to a press release. As part of the MOU, Mediacorp and have agreed to work together on joint projects involving the production, distribution and promotion of international content, which includes embarking on potential Korean drama co-productions; bringing together their respective creative and production teams; as well as facilitating exchanges of on-screen talent between Singapore and South Korea for future projects. 'Collaborating with esteemed industry partners like marks a bold step forward in redefining creative storytelling for a global audience,' said Virginia Lim, chief content officer of Mediacorp. 'By combining Singapore's vibrant multicultural perspectives with South Korea's unparalleled expertise in entertainment innovation, this MOU establishes a powerful platform for co-production, cross-cultural exchange, talent development and showcasing the very best of Asian creativity to the world.' In a move to expand their global reach, Telemundo Studios and Brazil's​ leading media company​ Globo​ - one of the largest content producers in Latin America - have signed a deal​ to co-produce original films and series. ​The media companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will boost their existing relationship by collaborating to develop premium content for audiences in the U.S., Brazil and international markets. ​A​lthough the titles, formats, and production models are still being defined, the focus is on creating high-value intellectual property (IP) with broad international appeal. 'With our unique expertise and ability to produce content that resonates globally, this partnership is going to strengthen our editorial alignment and paves the way for premium scripted projects that connect with audiences across borders,' says Javier Pons, Chief Content Officer and Head of Telemundo Studios, a division of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises. The original films and series will be released as Globoplay Originals in Brazil and on Telemundo's broadcast and streaming platforms in the U.S. The collaboration builds on a history of successfully co-producing adaptations of iconic Globo telenovelas, including Spanish-language adaptations such as Vale Tudo (Vale Todo) and O Clone (El Clon).
