Wisconsin State Fair cancels Lynyrd Skynyrd performance due to weather, posts message about refunds
The Wisconsin State Fair canceled its main stage act for Saturday, Aug. 9, due to severe weather.
Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd was scheduled to perform at 7:30 p.m. on the Bank Five Nine Main Stage. After a few delays, the show was officially canceled around 8:15 p.m.
"While we tried everything within our control to allow this show to go on, for the safety of our artists, team, and Fairgoers, we cannot host this concert," the State Fair announced in a Facebook post.
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning around 8 p.m., including Milwaukee, West Allis and Wauwatosa, until 2 a.m., following a flood watch for most of southern Wisconsin earlier in the evening.
Tickets for the show purchased through Etix, the official ticket provider of the Wisconsin State Fair, will be refunded in the next 7 to 14 days, the post said.
Those who purchased tickets at the State Fair ticket office using cash can visit the ticket office to receive their refund between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday-Friday, the post said; original tickets and ID must be provided.
