Try holding back the jeers! Simply Red fans to be given a 'trigger warning' at concert film screening because of song lyrics about sex and drinking
Simply Red's new concert film has reportedly been given a trigger warning because of song lyrics about sex and drinking. The recording of a live concert in Chile in March 2025, which is hitting screens on Thursday, celebrates 40 years of hits from the soul and pop band fronted by singer-songwriter Mick Hucknall. However, fans will be baffled to hear that the movie comes with a few warnings from the British Board of Classification, despite being rated a U, meaning it's suitable for everyone. According to The Sun, viewers have been warned about the lyrics that reference 'making love and sexual attraction'. The BBFC warns: 'Song lyrics occasionally make brief, undetailed verbal references to 'making love' and to sexual attraction. 'There is infrequent very mild bad language ('damn') and people are briefly shown drinking alcohol.' The new film, which is being released to celebrate the iconic Manchester band's 40th anniversary, showcases spectacular performance from their recent tour in Santiago, Chile. The movie's description reads: 'Holding Back The Years: 40 Years of Simply Red – Live from Santiago' captures the band's electrifying performance at the Movistar Arena in Chile, where they played five consecutive sold-out shows to rapturous audiences as part of their Latin American tour leg, which saw them perform to over 140,000 fans. 'This special cinema event will give fans the opportunity to experience the energy and emotion of Simply Red's 40th Anniversary Tour on the big screen. 'Featuring stunning performances of their greatest hits and fan favorites spanning their entire career – from their 1985 critically acclaimed debut 'Picture Book' right through to their latest releases.' A British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) spokesperson said: 'BBFC age ratings and content advice work to empower audiences to make informed viewing decisions. Holding Back the Years – 40 Years of Simply Red, Live in Santiago is rated U for very mild bad language and sex references. 'Every BBFC age rating decision and every piece of content advice is based on our Classification Guidelines. Our Guidelines are the result of extensive consultation with thousands of people across the UK and are refreshed every four to five years to ensure they continue to reflect the expectations of UK audiences.' 'Our content advice provides a detailed breakdown of the issues that result in a particular age rating, as well as other issues likely to be of relevance to audiences. In 2023, BBFC research found that 85% of parents and caregivers and 71% of teenagers thought content advice is useful for everyone.' In 2019, lead singer Mick denied sleeping with 3,000 women, claiming that the interview where he revealed the amount of women he had bed, was taken 'wildly out of context'. The Fairground singer, who now lives in Surrey and has been married for over a decade, admitted that he had 'no idea' how many women he slept with. Speaking candidly to Rob McGibbon for The Sunday Times, the singer, who has dated Catherine Zeta Jones and Helena Christensen, revealed that when he said: 'In the crazy days, it was screaming girls everywhere and it felt like you were sleeping with three women a day,' - that it wasn't a literal number. However, the singer, did admit to living a playboy lifestyle when his career was at its peak, which involved 'a lot of' alcohol and drugs. He went on to say in the frank interview that his past confessions were 'conflated'. Pink Floyd Misses Its First No. 1 Album By One Space
Pink Floyd returns to the Billboard charts with a brand new album this week. Not a traditional studio collection, but a live set that has become a global bestseller. At Pompeii - MCMLXXII is buoyed by the success of the concert film of the same name, which was re-released in theaters earlier this year and raked in millions of dollars at the box office. The performance proved that the English band still not only commands a sizable fanbase around the world, but can also generate income and major wins in the busy entertainment world with older material. At Pompeii debuts on five Billboard charts this week. It nearly earns the group a new No. 1 on several tallies, but misses the top spot by just one frustrating space on multiple lists. Despite being widely recognized as one of the most influential and bestselling rock bands of all time, Pink Floyd has never reached No. 1 on the Top Rock Albums chart. Of course, the list was introduced long after the band's initial burst of creative and commercial power, but it's still rather surprising that the legendary act has never scored a leader on any list with the word 'rock' in its title. This frame, At Pompeii opens at No. 2, coming in behind only Stick Season by Noah Kahan. That project returns to the peak position after dipping to No. 2 last frame and celebrates a full year at No. 1. At Pompeii also starts in the runner-up space on the Vinyl Albums chart, which isn't genre-specific, but focuses solely on the format. On that roster, Bad Bunny hits No. 1 thanks to the vinyl reissue of his most recent album Debí Tirar Más Fotos. Pink Floyd has previously topped the Vinyl Albums tally, with both The Wall and The Endless River reaching the summit. Several other collections have peaked in the runner-up space, and that roundup now includes At Pompeii. Pink Floyd's latest offering comes in third place on two other tallies. At Pompeii starts its time on the Top Album Sales and Top Rock & Alternative Albums charts at No. 3. It only misses the top 10 on the Billboard 200, where it kicks off at No. 28.

With the No. 3 debut on Top Album Sales with 20,000 copies, Pink Floyd captures its largest sales week for an album in over 10 years. The act last sold more copies of a single album on the Jan. 10, 2015-dated chart, when the band's final studio album, The Endless River, sold 29,000 copies in its seventh week of release. Billboard's Top Album Sales chart ranks the top-selling albums of the week based only on traditional album sales. The chart's history dates back to May 25, 1991, the first week Billboard began tabulating charts with electronically monitored piece count information from SoundScan, now Luminate. Pure album sales were the sole measurement utilized by the Billboard 200 albums chart through the list dated Dec. 6, 2014, after which that chart switched to a methodology that blends album sales with track equivalent album (TEA) units and streaming equivalent album (SEA) units. It's a busy week in the top 10 on Top Album Sales, as the Pompeii project is one of six debuts in the region. At the top of the list, Bad Bunny's Debí Tirar Más Fotos reenters at No. 1, for its first week in the lead, following its vinyl release. Fuerza Regida's 111XPANTIA bows at No. 2, while Eric Church's Evangeline Vs. The Machine motors in at No. 4. Sabrina Carpenter's former leader Short n' Sweet rounds out the top 10, falling 9-10.
