Man dead after report of drowning in pool at Mississauga condo, paramedics say
A man is dead after paramedics in Peel Region say they responded to a report of a drowning in a swimming pool at a Mississauga condo building on Wednesday. Paramedics confirmed the death of the man, believed to be about 40, on Wednesday evening. Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services said firefighters, who were first on the scene, received a call about a possible drowning at 7:45 p.m. in the area of Aquitaine Drive and Winston Churchill Boulevard. Firefighters administered defibrillator protocols until paramedics arrived and took over, Mississauga Fire said. After 7:45 p.m., paramedics, police and firefighters were seen gathered near an outdoor pool at 2929 Aquitaine Dr. in Mississauga. Several emergency vehicles were seen parked outside the building. Peel police said they received a call about a man with absent vital signs but said they would provide more information on Thursday.

Woman charged with attempted murder after child allegedly pushed off balcony: police
A woman faces several charges, including attempted murder, after she allegedly pushed a child off a condo balcony downtown, Toronto police say. Police were called on Monday after a young child was found on the ground near a condo building in the Front Street W. and Spadina Avenue area, a police spokesperson said in an email on Wednesday. The child suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said. They did not provide the child's age. Police allege that the child fell to the ground after being pushed. The woman, 33, of Toronto, has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, administering a noxious thing with the intent to endanger life, and a parent not providing the necessaries of life, endangering life. She was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
