DUPLIN COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — A woman was arrested after her vehicle was pulled over by law enforcement with the Duplin County Sheriff's Office on Cornwallis Road Friday May 30, 2025. Desiree L. Anderson, of Teachey, was charged with: Three counts possession of a schedule II controlled substance (cocaine and crack cocaine) Felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a schedule II controlled substance Misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia Misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia Anderson was jailed under a $25,000 secured bond in the Duplin County Jail. OAKLAND, Calif. - Police shut down an Oakland smoke shop for the unlicensed sale of marijuana and tobacco products, authorities said. What we know Officers raided the shop in the 3500 block of International Boulevard last Thursday, where they confiscated marijuana and flavored tobacco products, according to the Oakland Police Department. Investigators found the business was operating without the required licenses and permits to sell cannabis or tobacco products. One man was cited for possession of a controlled substance. Authorities have not said whether he was the business owner. The case will be forwarded to the district attorney's office to determine whether to pursue criminal and civil charges. Guelph Police said, at around 3 p.m., they received a phone call about a Mercedes SUV with fake licence plates in the parking lot of a store on Woodlawn Road. Officers then spotted a man who matched the witness' description leaving the store with a full shopping cart. 'The male appeared to notice the officers and briefly returned inside the business,' police said in a media release. 'He was stopped as he walked away from the store, a short time later, pushing the cart. When asked how he paid for the items he provided a receipt from a Brampton business dated a day earlier.' Police said the man had not paid for the merchandise. During his arrest, officers found several credit cards and identification cards with various names on them. They also seized a small amount of suspected heroin. The 23-year-old has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, as well as nearly a dozen counts related to theft and fraud.

Traffic stop leads to drug bust in Red Bluff

A traffic stop on S. Main Street in Red Bluff on Friday, May 2 ended with a man behind bars on drug-related charges. According to the Red Bluff Police Department, an officer made the stop on a vehicle driven by Billie Polley, 40, of Gerber around 3:40 p.m., at Starbucks reportedly because Polley was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant and was driving without a license. Polley was detained on the warrant, while a second Red Bluff police officer arrived and allegedly discovered drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. As police continued to search the vehicle they reportedly located six 9mm pistol rounds, 56 grams of packaged marijuana, a scale, and 46.2 grams of methamphetamine concealed inside an improvised Arizona Tea aluminum can. Polley was placed under arrest on the warrant, and suspicion of transporting and possessing a controlled substance for sales, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and felony possession of a controlled substance with prior convictions. He was booked into the Tehama County Jail.
