Mavericks' Cooper Flagg gets massive corn maze in Maine in his honor
The post Mavericks' Cooper Flagg gets massive corn maze in Maine in his honor appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Dallas Mavericks are currently gearing up for their 2024-25 season, recently finding out that they will have both an opening week and Christmas Day nationally televised game this year. A large part of the reason why there is still considerable hype around Dallas despite the Luka Doncic trade and Kyrie Irving injury is the presence of Cooper Flagg, whom the team drafted number one overall this past June. Flagg hails from Maine, prompting some fans to give him the nickname 'The Maine Event,' and recently, a farmer from Maine paid homage to Flagg with an epic corn maze that was designed to resemble the number one overall pick shooting the basketball, per the Mavs' account on X, formerly Twitter. In many ways, Flagg is responsible for putting his home state on the map in terms of basketball–Maine is not exactly known as a sports hub, and even though Flagg eventually transferred out of the state and down to Florida to finish out his high school career against better competition, he's still frequently shown love to his home state during his rise to fame. A strange situation for the Mavericks It's not often that a number one overall pick walks into a situation where three future Hall of Famers are already on the roster (in this case, Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving, and Klay Thompson). However, that's exactly the situation that Cooper Flagg finds himself in ahead of the upcoming 2025-26 NBA season. Conspiracy theorists were abuzz when the Mavericks landed the number one overall pick less than four months after trading Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in what was widely regarded as the worst transaction in NBA history. However, for Mavericks fans, the addition of Flagg figures to provide some sort of silver lining amid what was the darkest period in their franchise's history. At this point, it's hard to envision the Mavericks competing for much considering the state of their guard rotation with Irving sidelined due to an ACL injury, but once Kyrie returns, Dallas could have one of the deepest rosters in the NBA. The Mavericks will get their season underway on October 22 against the San Antonio Spurs. Ohio Man Plants Massive 13-Acre Corn Maze with Secret Marriage Proposal Hidden Inside
'I wanted to do something big, something she'd never forget," farmer Tim Sullivan told ABC6 NEED TO KNOW Circle S Farms in Ohio recently revealed its 2025 corn maze design: a 13-acre marriage proposal from farmer Tim Sullivan to his now-fiancée, Caroline Liggett 'I wanted to do something big, something she'd never forget. Seeing her face when she realized what it said — I'll never forget that moment," Sullivan told ABC6 The elaborate maze was planted using a computerized tractor, and will be open to the public this fall An Ohio man's marriage proposal was a little corny. Farmer Tim Sullivan and his girlfriend, Caroline Liggett, privately flew over a 13-acre maze, which he designed to grow a hidden question: "Will You Marry Me, Caroline?" Ohio-based family farm Circle S Farms shared via it's 2025 corn maze design reveal Facebook post Aug. 5 that the surprise proposal was successful, as Liggett said, "Yes!" 'I wanted to do something big, something she'd never forget," Sullivan told ABC6. "Seeing her face when she realized what it said — I'll never forget that moment." The elaborate maze was complete with three pumpkin designs. Speaking with The Columbus Dispatch, Sullivan explained that he and other workers began planting the acres of corn using a computerized tractor on June 3. Later that month, the message was visible from the air. Sullivan was admittedly "super nervous" that someone else would fly over the field and spoil the surprise by posting a photo of it on social media, but luckily no one did. With the engagement ring in his pocket, Sullivan convinced Liggett to fly over the cornfield with him by pretending to have an interest in flying. Initially, Liggett missed the message — but after a second pass, she said saw the secret proposal and happily accepted. "I was just like so amazed that somebody put that much effort in planning into a proposal like that," Liggett told the local news outlet. "I expected he would do something quite elaborate and intentional, but nothing to that extreme by any means." The couple work at competing agricultural companies — Sullivan with Corteva Agriscience and Liggett with WinField United — so Liggett said, "It was only fitting that our proposal would happen with the cornfield." Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. The maze opens to the public "this fall" at Circle S Farms, allowing visitors to wander the romantic rows. "See you soon for a season full of fun, memories, and a little extra love in the air!" Circle S Farms wrote on Facebook. Sullivan and Liggett's wedding is planned for early summer 2026. Read the original article on People Solve the daily Crossword

Corn maze in Vankleek, Ont. celebrates Terry Fox's Marathon of Hope
Ouimet Farms in Vankleek Hill is honouring Terry Fox with a corn maze to celebrate the 45th anniversary of his Marathon of Hope. 'He is a true Canadian icon and we thought we would pay a tribute to what he's done and his legacy,' says Andre Ouimet, owner of Ouimet Farms Adventure in eastern Ontario. Ouimet says the thought came about this past winter and has been planning for it since December. 'We come up with the idea, then we have to put it on paper, digitize it and then we go into the field and draw it out and then corn comes up and it looks amazing,' says Ouimet. The maze is a scavenger hunt filled with Terry Fox trivia and puzzle pieces. The farm has a Terry Fox exhibit in its museum that also has fun facts, history and a map of Fox's journey. Vankleek Hill Visitors walk through the Ouimet Farms corn maze in Vankleek Hill on Aug. 10, 2025. (Camille Wilson/CTV News Ottawa) Noella St. Pierre and her family come from Halifax every year to visit her cousins in Ottawa to do the annual corn maze. 'We've been doing this for three years now. We come at around the same time,' said Guy St. Pierre, doing maze with family of eight. The family says they split up into two groups to make it a competition to see who gets through first, but say it's mostly about having fun. The farm has been creating pictures out of crops for the past 13 years to honour the Queen, Canada, farmers, astronauts, Disney and others. 'But this is pretty special to us - Terry Fox, can't say more about it,' says Ouimet. The maze is all fun but is also in support of a good cause. 'We have been in contact with the Terry Fox Foundation. They're very supportive of it. We are going to be making a donation at the end of the season. Every entry a portion of our proceeds will be given to Terry Fox Foundation,' says Ouimet. The farm is filled with fun for the whole family with many attractions. The corn maze is open every weekend until the end of October.
