Babe Rainbow cover Dido's 'Thank You' for Like A Version

Babe Rainbow parted the clouds and brought the sunshine in on Dido's 'Thank You', a track that always makes us think about grey, rainy days. In their Like A Version debut, the dreamy psychedelic Byron Bay band took the 2000s ballad (also sampled by Eminem in 'Stan') in from the cold, wrapped it in a towel and brought it a hot drink. With warm-toned acoustic guitar, fuzzy bass and delicate vocals, Babe Rainbow transported us from a dreary London street to the crystalline waters off the North Coast. "It was really nice, especially playing the nylon so low," guitarist Jack Crowther said. "It had this deep resonance and then when Angus [Dowling, singer], when we decided that was the key, his voice was weaving so nicely with the guitar. "It felt really cool, just him and I singing it." It's a gorgeous shift on Dido's original, feeling like the first touch of sunshine on your skin after a long, dark winter. We reckon this might just be the best day of their lives. Behind The Amity Affliction's cover of Turnstile's 'HOLIDAY' for Like A Version

For a self-professed "not a hardcore" band covering a hardcore track, it was "just weird enough to work". That's how The Amity Affliction found themselves covering Turnstile's 'HOLIDAY' for their Like A Version debut. "We just grew up going to hardcore shows," drummer Joe Longobardi said. "We both played in hardcore bands for a long, long time. Playing that song, it brings you back to the days of playing wherever you could, slogging it out in the van." Guitarist Dan Brown added that it was a "where you came from moment" that made him feel the way he did when he was playing more hardcore with bands like 50 Lions and Confession. "I wanna spin-kick someone," he said, chuckling. After The Amity Affliction spent time going through a list of tracks to tackle for their debut Like A Version, they landed on the Baltimore outfit in a moment of shared silence. "We went through a list of songs we thought would go over well and nothing really kinda hit us the right way," Joe said. "And then we were on the bus somehwere and somebody just said 'why don't we do Turnstile?' and it kinda just got silent for a second." Dan chimed in "it was just weird enough that we all went 'oh, that'll kinda work'." And wow did it work. We're ready to open this pit right up thanks to this Like A Version. Evie Irie covers Lana Del Rey's 'Norman fucking Rockwell' for Like A Version

First impressions are incredibly important and there's zero doubt that Evie Irie crushed hers with her debut in the Like A Version studio with this Lana Del Rey cover. The 22-year-old Darkinjung/Central Coast-born, LA-based singer-songwriter stepped up with her rendition of 'Norman fucking Rockwell' as a dedication to the artist she adores. "When I got asked to do this I was like 'yes!'," Evie said. "It's an ode to her. I just love her so much, she's everything to me. I just wanted to interpret it in my own way." Immersing herself in the lyrics to truly understand the thread Lana was weaving in her 2019 album of the same name, Evie Irie was able to take it all in and perform it with her whole chest while she was home from the US. Flanked by a full band (including strings!) Evie Irie builds the energy up and lets it fall gracefully throughout the cover. And who would have expected a Lana song to have gang vocals? Check out more from Evie Irie's debut in the Like A Version studios below.
