EA SPORTS To Announce NHL 26 Cover Athlete Aug. 4
EA SPORTS will announce the cover athlete for NHL 26 on Aug. 4, the company said in a release Friday. EA SPORTS NHL changed all of their profile photos and banners on social media to a generic NHL 26 logo, finally acknowledging the games existence, as well as a standard and limited edition version of the game. With Season 8 set begin in NHL 25 on it will be interesting to see if there are any tie-ins with NHL 26. In a recent earnings call and in the Events and Presentations tab on the EA website NHL 26 is schedule to release in Q2 before EA FC 26. It was recently announce EA FC will be released Sept. 26, meaning NHL will likely release early to mid September. Comment below you think the cover athlete will be. Following the announcement, NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal reposted a photo on social media with a caption that read, "Angel Reese named NBA2K26 cover athlete for 'WNBA edition,' not Caitlin Clark." O'Neal and Reese's connection goes back to her college days with the LSU Tigers. The former NBA star is an alum of the university and supported Reese throughout her time with the Tigers. O'Neal even walked Reese, alongside her family members, for her senior game at LSU. As she continues her WNBA journey, O'Neal has been in Reese's corner, supporting the Chicago Sky star over the past two seasons. Throughout her second season with the Chicago Sky, Angel Reese has posted 13.2 points, 12.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. Reese was recently named a WNBA All-Star and will be part of Team Collier, having been selected by Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier in the WNBA All-Star Game draft. Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant was the cover athlete for NBA 2K24. Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker was the cover athlete for NBA 2K23. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is now on the books for six years at approximately $346 million. According to ESPN's Bobby Marks, Gilgeous-Alexander is set to earn around $63.52 million in the first year of the extension in 2027-28 and will earn around $78.77 million in the 2030-31 season. That means Gilgeous-Alexander will earn nearly a million dollars per game played and will be 32 years of age at the end of the 2030-31 season, the final year on that deal. Additionally, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Converse announced the SHAI 001's in February, and they're set to release this fall. The cover features Gilgeous-Alexander wearing his signature shoe.
