Bitcoin Consolidates Below Record High, With Everyone From Shrimps to Whales Accumulating
Bitcoin (BTC) is now trading at approximately $118,000, a bit more than 5% below its all-time high amid a wave of accumulation across the entire network. On-chain data from Glassnode shows that almost all wallet cohorts from retail shrimps holding less than 1 BTC to institutional-scale whales with more than 10,000 coins are now registering Accumulation Trend Scores of 1 on aggregate. This score reflects the relative strength of net accumulation over the past 15 days, adjusted for wallet size and entity activity. A score near 1 indicates that a cohort is aggressively accumulating BTC, while values closer to 0 suggest distribution. This unified buying behavior across almost every cohort is somewhat rare, last seen in November 2024 and May 2025. Notably, smaller entity wallets holding less than 100 BTC are playing a critical role in driving this trend. Known as crab and fish cohorts, these wallets are collectively acquiring BTC at a rate of 19,300 BTC per month, according to Glassnode data. That level of demand now outpaces the monthly issuance of new coins, which is only 13,400 BTC. In effect, retail and mid-sized investors alone are absorbing more than 100% of the new supply, creating a tightening effect on available circulating coins. Sign in to access your portfolio

Georgina Hayden's recipe for spiced crab egg fried rice
Crab deserves to be celebrated, but that doesn't mean it has to be a super-fancy, laborious meal. Crab midweek? Yes, please, and fried rice is my fallback whenever I am in a dinner pickle. That's not to belittle its deliciousness, complexity or elegance, though, because this spiced crab version can be as fancy as you like. That said, the speed and ease with which I can create a meal that I know everyone will love is the winning factor. Plus, I often have leftover cooked, chilled rice in the fridge, anyway, which is always the clincher (cooked rice has a better texture for frying once chilled). Prep 10 min Cook 25 min, plus cooling Serves 4 Fine sea salt 250g jasmine rice Vegetable oil 4cm piece fresh ginger, peeled and finely chopped3 garlic cloves, peeled and finely chopped½ tsp ground white pepper 2 tbsp fish sauce 2 tbsp soy sauce 3 large eggs, beaten200g mixed crab meat1 bunch fresh coriander, finely chopped1 green chilli, finely sliced2 limes, halved Bring a large pan of salted water to a boil. Wash the rice until the water runs clear, then boil it for 10 minutes, or until it is just cooked through. Drain, rinse under the cold tap and leave to cool completely (if possible). When you are ready to fry the rice, set a large wok or frying pan on a high heat and add a couple of tablespoons of oil. Add the chopped ginger and garlic, stir-fry for a minute, then add the rice. Stir in the ground white pepper and the fish and soy sauces, then stir-fry for a few minutes, until the rice is piping hot. Push the rice to the side of the wok, pour the beaten eggs into the middle of the pan and scramble for a minute or two. Break up the cooked egg and stir it into the rice. Add the crab to the wok, then stir-fry until everything is cooked through and hot. Stir in the chopped coriander and sliced chilli, and serve with the lime halves.

"Don't bluff lah" - Skepticism arises as TikToker posts video of him catching 800g crab at Yishun Dam
Photo: CRABHUNTERSG TIKTOK SINGAPORE: A video showing a man digging up a large crab at Yishun Dam has gone viral online, racking up over 633,000 views on TikTok and drawing a flurry of reactions ranging from admiration to skepticism and criticism. The video, originally posted on March 29 by TikTok user @crabhuntersg — who identifies himself as 'Ah Toan' — was later reposted to Facebook by SG Daily, sparking renewed interest and heated discussion. In the clip, Ah Toan is seen spotting a sizable crab buried in the sand before digging it out and grabbing it by its pincers. He then tosses it onto the sand, picks it up again, this time by the back of its shell, and displays it to the camera. The crab, reportedly weighing about 800 grams, appeared unharmed. While some viewers were impressed by the dramatic catch, others questioned its authenticity. Comments flooded in, with many speculating the video had been staged. 'Don't bluff lah… you put the crab there,' one commenter wrote. Another added, 'I recognise this crab!! It was still at Sheng Siong Supermarket at Yishun yesterday in the morning.' Critics also took aim at the motivation behind posting such content. One Facebook user commented: 'These people have a bird's brain, wanting to post everything. If you want to catch the crab, just do it and keep quiet.' Despite the backlash, Ah Toan appears unfazed. His TikTok profile features a string of similar videos documenting his crab-hunting excursions across Singapore. The bio on his account simply reads: 'I like hunting crab.'

Crab crumpets
For some reason, crumpets were a rare treat when I was a kid – maybe my grandparents, whom I lived with, just weren't fans. Oddly enough, fresh crab dropped off by local fishermen was more common at teatime than crumpets. Later in life, I had the idea to combine the two into a seafood starter or bar snack, and it turned out to be an absolute winner. If you're buying prepared crabmeat, make sure it's freshly picked – not pasteurised. Pasteurised crab just doesn't have the same flavour or texture. And if you're using a whole fresh crab, even better – you get a bonus meal out of it by turning the shell and leftover bits into a lovely bisque.
